(Fla) SCANDAL-SCARRED VOTE CHIEF REPLACED (by Jeb)
SCANDAL-SCARRED VOTE CHIEF REPLACED
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/state/7567737.htm
An assistant election supervisor was chosen by Gov. Jeb Bush Wednesday to replace Seminole County Election Supervisor Sandra Goard. Dennis Joyner, 55, will fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Goard, who was thrust into the national spotlight during the 2000 presidential election.

Goard became embroiled in the presidential ballot controversy when attorney Harry Jacobs unsuccessfully sued her office over her handling of absentee ballots. Goard allowed Florida Republican Party workers to modify absentee-ballot requests in her office in the weeks leading up to the election. The GOP workers added voter-ID numbers to about 2,000 requests initially rejected by Goard's office. Jacobs, a Democrat, asked the courts to throw out the nearly 16,000 absentee ballots cast by Seminole County voters. Had Jacobs won, Al Gore would have defeated George W. Bush.

Next stop Carlyle?

It's too bad the judge's choice was presented as either keep all the absentee ballots or discard all the absentee ballots in that precinct.

With advanced ink analysis and subpoenas, maybe they could have only eliminated the 2,000 illegal ballots.

7. True, but the bushites had team Gore/Lieberman overwhelmed
Team Gore/Lieberman could have been more prepared for the multi front assault by the bfee. Jebco had all the key pieces & players in place well in advance. Just like they are doing for 2004.

8. This decision and another like it
...before the Leon County Circuit Court Judges should have been appealed. They were decided erroneously. The judges determined that the petitioners hadn't shown fraud. A careful evaluation of the statutes making the mishandling of absentee balots a FELONY and providing that such ballots are VOID, shows that it was the legislatures intent to eliminate any requirement for proof of fraud beore eliminating consideration of those of ballots affected. This legislation was based upon prior experiences of ballot stuffing in Dade County.

The rules of game are those imposed before the election. Changes to the national election rules chosen by the legislature after the vote are unconstitutional. This is the federal election law. Thus when Florida law favored Gore it was ignored in favor of Federal law. When Federal law favored Gore it was ignored in favor of Florida law, already overturned in Gore v. Bush. Funny how that works, isn't it. If the Leon county decisions had been appealed Gore would be President right now.

9. Judge Sanders Saul
What a damnable shame. It was pure murder watching him operate.

Really hated Al Gore's excellent lawyer, and it definitely showed.
