Poll Puts Katherine Harris in Race for Graham’s Seat
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2003/12/23/100342.shtml

She still hasn’t said she’s running, but Katherine Harris may get drafted into the race for the U.S. Senate seat Democrat Bob Graham is vacating.

According to a recent St. Petersburg/Miami Herald poll, 29 percent of Floridian Republicans back Harris, putting her ahead of both Bill McCollum, with 16 percent, and former HUD Secretary Mel Martinez, who pulled 11 percent.

However, 38 percent were still undecided, leaving the Republican side of the race anyone’s to win.

Where can I send a donation for her campaign? She would be the best candidate for the Democrats to run against! LOL

2. My GOP friendly father lives in her district and despises her
He likes Jeb, but hates W. He said that Katherine Harris is an embarrassment to the State of Florida. I guess she spoke at his local seniors' club and came across as an uppity, rich, b*&%#.

3. that is why Martinez is back in Florida after
resigning from HUD. He is * choice for the Senate and the choice of most Repubs in an attempt to halt Harris' bid. They are afraid that if Harris runs, that it would cause democrats to actually go to the polls and vote which would be a bad thing for *.

6. Martinez may have some enemies in the Florida republican party.
On a recent Capitol Gang, a Florida journalist was a guest and said Jeb Bush and others in the party did not like Martinez and did not want him to enter the primary. He also said the White House absolutely did not want Harris to run in the primary.

4. I thought this was a done deal
Martinez was the partys choice, and Katherine Harris gets to wait her turn. She just got to Congress anyway.

5. I hope she runs.
The irony of Harris winning the primary and driving a huge democratic turnout in November leading to Bush losing Florida would be sweet.

7. Great! Put her on the ballot! Millions of PO'ed Dems will surge to the pol
This would make it the highest turnout election in Florida's history. If we can't beat Bush with GOTV...we are truly f*cked!

8. I agree
Harris in 2004! What a wonderful rallying point for the FL democrats. Which is the reason I guess that Rove, et al are pushing Martinez.

10. Maybe....
But Katherine Harris name recognition is off the map. Harris will motivate our base to get out to vote, but I think her name recognition alone will make her difficult to beat. Won't be good for Bush, but could be the Repugs best chance at the seat. There is a lot of anti-Bush sentiment in Florida, but then again Jeb still won.

9. Name Recognition is key
in politics. The "undecided" voters are the ones that decide who wins the election and they are likely to vote for whoever they are more familiar with. I hope she doesn't run.
