Support for Democratic contender Clark brings almost a thousand hateful e-mails
By DOUG SAUNDERS
Tuesday, December 23, 2003 - Page A18
... Few Republican Party loyalists in the United States noticed that a young Edmonton man set up a website called Canadians for Wesley Clark, urging Canadians to support the popular retired general's bid to become the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
Mr. Clark's official website links to the page.
Within hours, news of the Edmonton site was picked up by gossip gadfly Matt Drudge and became a top news story on the Texas-based website GOPUSA, a one-man operation whose news stories often provide content for hundreds of phone-in radio shows across the United States.
Less than 12 hours later, the Canadian made headlines in the conservative New York Sun, which proclaimed: "Anti-Bush Foreigners Eye Web for Donations to Democrats."
By the end of the day on Friday, the Edmonton website had become part of the election: George W. Bush's campaign team sent millions of Republicans a fundraising letter that accuses Mr. Clark of "raising foreign cash to attack our president."...
... "There's no question that conservatives have built up a sophisticated echo chamber in which talk radio and cable help drive certain stories" that have their origins on the Internet, said Howard Kurtz, a Washington-based media analyst for CNN, as well as The Washington Post.
"One could argue that the so-called liberal media do the same thing, but the right, which sees itself as shut out of the mainstream media, has become awfully skilled at taking what might seem like a minor matter and blowing it up into the issue of the day," Mr. Kurtz said.
Left-wing and centrist websites and magazines are nowhere near as co-ordinated and organized as those of their Republican counterparts.
"What we do here is, we cater to a conservative audience. ...
... "One reason this conservative message delivery system will probably play a role in the 2004 campaign is that news and opinion travel so much more quickly in the Internet age," Mr. Kurtz said, "and what used to become a story in a few days now happens in a few hours."

2. They are a very well coordinated
group that can make you dizzy with their spin, spin, spin. We need to fight back by watching every little article about them and blow it up out of proportion. Why aren't we?
Geraldine Ferraro was excellent on shannity last night. She was more than able to hold her own against the obnoxious neocon taking hannity's place.
She is to be respected by the Dems and put out there more to represent the Dems.

The Dems need to read more articles and show the country what Bu$h is really doing such as,

Khadafi is RENEGING on giving up WMD,
"Syria's U.N. Ambassador Fayssal Mekdad, the only Arab representative on the council, said he told members that Libya wanted to eliminate the phrase "to ensure the verified elimination of all Libya's weapons of mass destruction programs."
Libya objects to wording of U.N. Security Council statement on disarmament
Associated Press ^ | Dec 22, 2003 | Edith Lederer

Or how about this one,

The Washington Times ^ | 12/23/2003 | William Goldcamp
The Supreme Court's Dec. 10 decision upholding the May 2002 campaign finance reform law was, in its own way, as great an attack on American liberty as the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
"President Bush, by not vetoing the bill, violated the oath of office he took in January 2001 to uphold the Constitution. In addition, he appears to have acquiesced in the court's error by accepting the decision, thus being at variance with this campaign pledge, and presumed current policy, of nominating and seating strict constructionists to the bench."

There are a lot of articles like this that could be blown-up to the media..

3. GOPUSA?
Strange coincidence here. This is the same site that Jeremy Reynalds posts his bogus rants about al Qaeda operatives. The same Jeremy Reynalds who has been promoting one particular operative named Daleel Almojahid. Daleel Almojahid is supposedly one of the main sources of internet chatter that has caused Homeland Security to raise the terror threat level to Code Orange.

Now this same site is going after Gen. Clark. Just one of those things that makes you wonder?

5. Brownshirts. How very republican.
As I recall, GOPUSA organized and coordinated the attack against the Dixie Chicks.

This story is another example of the decision by the democratic and republican parties to allow the republican party to define the democratic party.

4. Organized parrots
The ease of taking orders and mindless repeating of lines sacrifices content for raw effect. The whole body of orcs become a machine devoid of real quality is no longer anything but a mechanical propaganda bully whose flow is dictated from a very few sources, some of whom in their self importance get disciplined or lopped off, revealing the single hand of GOP Party headquarters had been dictating the main strategy in every intonation and phrase all along, for reasons often secret to the non-paid suckers who relish this kind of thoughtless muggery.

6. I believe this young Edmanton man is a DUer!
(Or is at least well-acquainted with the DUer.)

To the people running Canadians for Clark: Keep it up! I'm not supporting Clark in the primary (ABB in November), but we need voices like yours in our debate.

12. That really caught my eye too
show me one, JUST ONE, "liberal" spokesperson who has a high profile in the mainstream media!(And no, "Colmes" doesn't count!) I can show you more than a dozen far-right talking heads. If there were a "Liberal' media, Bush* would have been impeached ages ago!

9. So the GOP has moved from trying to stifle free speech within the
borders of the US and has moved on to Canada. This is so ugly! If you want to send the owner of the website a supporting e-mail to try and counter the hateful ones, here is his site:

Does he think he is telling us something we don't know? He seems to openly admit he is catering to the GOP. Almost bragging about it.

16. The canadian that owns that website posts here on DU.
He even posted one of the hate emails from a right winger, something about wishing terrorists would strike on canadian soil. The hate mongers thought his site was made up of hundreds of Canadians but it's made up of one person. One hatemonger said he would report his site to the fbi, I believe.
