Sutter County hunt for man who allegedly threatened rampage

(04-19) 13:31 PDT SACRAMENTO -- Sutter County sheriff's officials are searching for a 28-year-old man who allegedly told his pastor and family members last night that he had an AK-47, poison and explosives and that he intended to carry out a rampage that "will make Virginia Tech look mild."

The man, identified as Jeffery Thomas Carney, did not threaten a particular group of people or location. Authorities said Carney has a history of methamphetamine abuse and is possibly displaying signs of drug-induced psychosis such as talking rapidly, bouncing around from one subject to another.

So far, seven law enforcement agencies -- Sutter County Sheriff, Yuba County Sheriff, Marysville police, Yuba City police, Placer County Sheriff, West Sacramento police and the state Department of Justice -- have fanned out looking for Carney.

By early afternoon, Parker said there were multiple police actions including Yuba City police department's SWAT team surrounding an area where Carney's car may have been found.

3. Having been there myself, tweakers scare me.

The ones who get all seriously, crazy fucked up, that is. Near my hometown a couple of years ago a meth addict kidnapped his aunt and uncle, stuffed them in the trunk of their car, and burned them alive. Apparently he wanted money from them to pay $150 drug debt.

I hope they catch this guy soon.
