By PHIL DAVIS

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Presidential hopeful Barack Obama strode on stage Sunday for a fundraising event hours after a series of powerful thunderstorms raked the city.

"We were feeling a little worried," Obama told a crowd of about 2,000 who waited in strong, blustery winds to hear him speak. "The sun is shining on me, that's what's going on."

The Illinois Senator stuck to familiar themes in his first public Tampa campaign appearance - ending the war in Iraq and spending more on health care, education and alternative energy.

"At each and every juncture in American history, ordinary folks said, 'We don't care about the world as it is, we imagine the world as it might be. We want to write a new chapter,'" Obama told the crowd. "That is the moment that we are in right now."

4. I'm getting sick of these ridiculous headlines about Obama.
Why can't they just write a normal headline without making him sound like Jesus or something?

I'm an Obama supporter and these stupid headlines are the reason why people think he has no substance.

12. God forbid somebody make him look like he's a little special, or something.
Jeez, if they keep doing that, it might make some people feel so good about him they'll want to vote for him. I mean really. People sitting in the rain just to hear him speak and then the rain stopping just in time for him to come on stage. Whoever is managing that kind of superficial crap ought to really get another job.

/sarcasm

19. No need for sarcasm. I'm just referring to the headline, not the story.
Your sarcastic post doesn't apply to me since I support Obama for the reasons you state.

15. Oh I just enjoy the headlines but

I enjoy more the cockiness that Obama seems to assume he has. But, I so reminded of a phrase from the movie Braveheart and I paraphrase it here
"Just when we thought all hope was lost, our noble saviour has arrived."

Below the radar and yet to be spoken about and will be brought forward at the first democratic candidates debate......
Obama not only campaigned in the democratic primary for Joe Liberman in the 2006 Senate race in Connecticut, but even after Lieberman lost and ran as an Independent, Obama campaigned for him against the democratic nominee and anti-war candidate Ned LaMont.....Those for LaMont were Hillary Clinton, Chris Dodd, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Frank Laudenberg, and John Edwards.. Explanation there Mr.O!

20. You're dead wrong. After the primary, Obama supported Lamont.
Obama's PAC gave money to Lamont's campaign when he won the primary. Get your facts straight.

16. Gee, couldn't the AP come up with a MORE Cynical Headline?
I mean REALLY, maybe someone should tell reporter PHIL DAVIS that Mr. Obama IS a current U.S. Senator, how about a showing a little respect for the Senator?!?!

I mean Wtf?! :wtf: Davis refers to Senator Obama NINE (9) TIMES in that tiny little article and only ONCE (1 Time) as Senator Obama! 1 time out of 9! And that ONE time came in relation to the so-called "Money Primary!"

And SEVEN (7) of those Nine times he simply called him a very disrespectful Obama!

Who the hell does this Davis think he is, a RW Blogger?

I have never seen a nice headline like that one for *any* other Democrat. Even Hillary or Lieberman.
