~snip~ The World Bank Group Staff Association is demanding that Wolfowitz step down.

"The president must acknowledge that his conduct has compromised the integrity and effectiveness of the World Bank Group and has destroyed the staff's trust in his leadership," the association said Thursday. "He must act honorably and resign."

Wolfowitz said he met Thursday morning with the World Bank's board and that members were looking into the matter. He declined to discuss what actions, if any, the board could take. ~snip~

I've been convinced Wolfowitz is a complete and utter 100% self-interested amoral sociopathic criminal. His denial of aid to Ecuador as a result of their increased allocation of oil revenues to social programs ( http://www.bicusa.org/en/Article.2452.aspx ) was just one of many blatant self-serving moves.

Bye, Paul. Your next task will be to await the inevitable criminal charges facing you and your pals honorably.

Here's some more about what Paul n'pals have been up to: http://www.zmag.org/Sustainers/Content/2006-03/06bond.cfm

10. Wolfowitz fights for his job amid nepotism scandal
· World Bank chief sorry for role in partner's pay rise
· Board to decide future after internal investigation

Larry Elliott in Washington
Friday April 13, 2007
The Guardian

~snip~ After a series of revelations about the way he arranged for Ms Riza to be seconded to the State Department and receive pay rises totalling $61,000 (£31,000), Mr Wolfowitz's future was being discussed by the bank's 24-strong board. ~snip~

Under Mr Wolfowitz, a leading architect of the Iraq war appointed to the World Bank two years ago, the bank has sought to make the fight against corruption the central plank of its work, and at a press conference to launch the spring meetings of the bank in Washington this weekend he was asked whether he now had enough credibility to continue such a campaign.

Mr Wolfowitz pleaded for understanding for his "painful personal dilemma" and sought to divert attention by focusing on the need to raise aid levels to the developing world. However, he faced repeated questions about his integrity. The controversy erupted last week when the bank's staff association questioned the treatment of Ms Riza.

The board has since been investigating Ms Riza's secondment, amid allegations that Mr Wolfowitz personally directed the head of human resources to offer a generous pay rise and promotion. The bank's staff association called for all the papers relating to the case to be made public. ~snip~

18. Finally.
Wolfowitz has got to be the absolute bottom of the barrel if this crowd is the one calling for his resignation. Even cronyism can't protect Wolfie from his gross incompetence.

How much less credibility could these neocons have in the world's eyes? Seriously, has any group such as this brought this much disrespect to this nation than them? This is humiliating. These people are shameless...

Can't say this is much of a surprise. I guess the neocons never read "how to win friends and influence people".

21. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WHAAAAAAAAA...new to the job.....WHAAAAAAAAAA....please understand - never imagned that cronyism was a no-no

Wolfowitz -- who took the bank's helm on June 1, 2005 -- asked for "some understanding" of his position in the controversy.

"Not only was this a painful personal dilemma, but I also had to deal with it when I was new to this institution, and I was trying to navigate uncharted waters," he said

and of course the white house has confidence in their loyal bushie crony

22. Update: World Bank board probe fingers Wolfowitz in pay row

World Bank board probe fingers Wolfowitz in pay row

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The World Bank's executive board early Friday
insisted president Paul Wolfowitz never won its approval for hefty
pay hikes they said he personally ordered for his girlfriend at
the global lender.

Reporting the findings of an investigation into the scandal surrounding
his Libyan-born partner, Shaha Riza, the bank's 24 executive directors
appeared to raise serious questions over Wolfowitz's handling of the
affair.

The board issued a statement after a day-long emergency meeting that
stretched late into the night, as uproar deepened over an employment
package worth nearly 200,000 dollars given by the World Bank to Riza.

-snip-

Contrary to claims by Wolfowitz aides, the board said the World Bank's
ethics committee "had not been involved in the discussions with the
concerned staff member."
