Tancredo expected to announce for president
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - Colorado Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo is apparently set to make his presidential run official.

An official close to the congressman says Tancredo, an outspoken opponent of illegal immigration, will announce his bid for president on Monday.

The official says Tancredo has considered running for more than a year, and has raised more than one million dollars in two months. He will kick off his campaign with an announcement in Iowa, where political caucuses start the presidential nominating season.

1. Who cares?
Why this idiot gets any airtime is beyond me. Even his side thinks he's stupid.

13. I wonder if they'll invite him.
That may be worth watching, actually. For purely comic effect, of course.

2. "raised more than one million dollars in two months"
Well good for him. Really, that was a very good job on his part. Good first try. "A" for effort.

Hillary Clinton raised $10 million in one day.

11. I think you could very well be correct and there in lies the problem with our society.
When the "people's" Representatives have to resort to begging and arm twisting to get money so they can even run The "people" lose "big time". Not a total fan of public financing but it has to be better than what we currently have..What I would like to see is All Political Ads go on a completely seperate network channel such as c-span. Paid for by the people. No Political ads on regular intertainment channels.

16. I know what you mean, but...
...fundraising is essential for victory. I don't like it either, but it is absolutely necessary to have a shot. It doesn't matter how experienced one is or how good his or her ideas are if no one is going to hear them.

4. This is GOOD news!

More Republicans in the race means more divided loyalties and in-pary mud-slinging come primary season.

And I still insist that the GOPers are a WAY more diverse crowd than their Democratic counterparts. Sure, Hilary and Kucinich might seem like polar opposites, but when you compare them to the myriad ideological differences between social liberal Rudy and THIS minority-hating nutbar? Not even close. And it'll piss off Republicans even more when "their" perfect candidate is knocked out during the first round.

Psst--Conservativism is dying! Pass it on!

6. Wish the bastard would resign his ass
and focus on running his life into the ground.

Bill Winter would have been a great congressman to represent the 5th.

15. I'd prefer him over Dame Rudy or Weathervane McCain
Despite the fact that Rudy and McCain are warmongering Bushbots, they still be many of our Dems in many polls. I am not expecting MSM to tarnish the mythical heroes either.

17. This is starting to get frightening.
Say what you want to about Republicans, at least until Nixon came along you could at least expect them to run things without causing irreparable damage. Ford may have been a noon-entity, but at least he didn't undercut the Constitution. Is there any one of the Republicans who you would trust to run a 7-11?
