Governor Opens Door For More Cottage Questions

from Hartford TV Channel 3 ...

... The renovations included new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and floor; a cathedral ceiling in the living room; a propane heating system; a stone outdoor patio; and a lakeside deck with a hot tub. Rowland said that some of the improvements were paid for by supporters and executive staff members, not covered by loans he took out. He said none of the people, including his former depurty chief of staff Lawrence Alibozek and former chief of staff Peter Ellef, received any benefit from his office or the state in exchange for their assistance.

Rowland said that in 1999, his two co-chiefs of staff paid for the installation of heating improvements and a water heater.

"Mr. Alibozek is not a personal friend of mine," Rowland said. "I didn't know him before he took the job. I don't consider him a friend. We have released all the information. There will be other authorities that will answer those same questions. I don't have all the answers to all these questions. We can't get into all the specifics."

So if Alibozek WASN'T a friend, then WHY ON EARTH would he pay for the improvements?!??! As the headline implies, this raises more questions than it answers.

1. Glad my Governor is finally in the hot seat.
He's been fucking the state up for almost a decade now.

3. Zoning on Bantam lake?
Another thing I'm curious about. Did Rowland get any kind of dodgy zoning variances for the work on his cottage? I don't know anything about Bantam lake, but I have a friend with a cottage on a lake in eastern Ct. If he wanted to make any substantial changes to his cottage's exterior he'd have to spin nickels for the local zoning board.

5. Yes, Reichwing nutball Gov. Rowland needs to be impeached.
I am at a loss to explain how he was 'reelected' in this Democratic state.

6. Because the Dems...
...nominated a guy (Curry) who had already lost to Rowland twice. All the Rowland camp had to do was recycle negative campaign ads from previous elections. The Ct Dem party needs to get a clue and nominate someone voters haven't already tuned out. But Rowland is so hated now, Curry, or most any Dem should win in a landslide.

2. Alizobek-Rowland dialogue:

Aliz: "Governor, this is sort of awkward, but Pete (Ellef) and I would like to help you out with that cottage thingie ... mind if we pay for the water heater?"

Guv: "Hmmm, we just met, right? So this isn't personal? ... Sure, go right ahead; I'll give your contractor the directions; have him call me."

Aliz: "Gee, thanks for letting me help out! And remember not to invite me up there for anything, well, that's not official. After all, we're not friends."

Guv: "Correct. What's your name again?"

4. That's pretty good sniggles and it probably went down
just like that.

Really, what an insult to the tax paying citizens of CT.

7.  whoops, just got the transcript -- it was a conversation with God

... I've now been informed, in light of Rowland's death-bed conversion in which he invoked the blessings of the Lord on his post-corruptive effort to make amends, that the Supreme Being initiated the dialogue lo those many years ago that Alizobek went all soft on Johnny:

God: "Governor, hey you, Guv, it's me, Your Lord. How's the (second) wife? ... So your chief of staff, er, Alizobek -- you know, the one you're not personal friends with. Well, yeah, anyway, he wants to help you out with the cottage, if you know what I mean ..

Rowland: "God, you've always told me the truth, but why would Old What's-his-name want to pitch in?"

God: "Hey, I'm talking to you. You're not supposed to ask questions, if you catch my drift. Does 'Tomasso contribution' mean anything?"

Rowland: "Oh, right, boss. What was I thinking? Why would I be the least bit curious about why my non-friend would be donating a water heater for his superior's vacation cottage? After all, I'm just a governor; no one would ever want to, say, influence my decisions by arranging for my personal benefit."

God: "Governor, those teachers in Waterbury were right about you: You ARE a good learner!"
