Two sailors killed on submarine (Brits, air purification)

Two British sailors have died in an accident on a nuclear submarine.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed an incident had taken place on HMS Tireless during an exercise under the Arctic icecap at 0420 GMT on Wednesday.

One other member of the crew of the Devonport-based submarine was injured and is receiving medical treatment.

Air-purification equipment is thought to have caused the accident. The MoD expressed its "deep regret" and said the vessel was safe and on the surface...

1. That is rather vague, as there are CO2 scrubbers and H2 burners along with O2 generators
on board a nuclear submarine. Obviously, hydorgen burners and oxygen generators are pretty dangerous machines, and both are notoriously fickle and require a master to operate. The scrubbers, not so much...
There are also electrostatic precipitators as well which use electricity, obviously, as well. It could have been any of the four.

AN EXPLOSION involving an oxygen canister has killed two sailors and seriously injured a third on a British nuclear submarine in the ice-topped Arctic Ocean.

The vessel, which is taking part in classified tactical exercises with the US Navy, remained locked, on the surface, in the Arctic ice shelf, about 290 kilometres off the northern coast of Alaska, one of the most remote and forbidding places on the planet.

3. I figured it was the oxygen generator.
It's the most potentially explosive equipment on the boat.
