White House Denies Search Underway For Gonzales Successor
Source: ABCNews

As Congressional investigators and reporters pour over 3,000 pages of documents released by the Justice Department related to the firings of 8 federal prosecutors, the White House is standing by embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.

This morning, White House deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino tells ABC News there is nothing to the Department of Justice emails she has reviewed that would change the statements of support already made by the White House.

Perino also says flatly that it is "inaccurate" to say the White House is searching for a Gonzales successor.

1. Another Lie
If they didn't do so much harm to our country, it would be funny to watch these clowns operate. Gonzo's mistake? Embarrassing bush. bush doesn't give a fuck about any criminality or stacking prosecutors in his favor, just don't get caught doing it.

8. I would love to see Bush claim executive order/priviledge

in this mess to protect Gozo/Rove.

I'd love to watch this failed presidency go down in flames.

4. Exactly - they did not specify exactly what was inaccurate, die they?
The watchwords of this administration seem to "inaccurate", "out of context", "mistakes were made". Whatever happened to "I messed up. The buck stops here. I hereby resign to give someone else a chance to get it right."?

5. "inaccurate" to say the White House is searching for a Gonzales successor.
- Perino also says flatly that it is "inaccurate" to say the White House is searching for a Gonzales successor.-

Ah...but would it be accurate to say that people outside the WH - though very much connected to the administration - and at the request of the WH, are doing the actual "searching for a Gonzales successor" - and will give their recommendations to the WH?

Or maybe Perino is defining the WH as just Bush and Cheney - so would it be accurate to say Bush and Cheney aren't doing the actual searching (reviewing, brainstorming) but will pick from the recommendations?

It's all in how you read what they say...

6. They're probably just going down the pre-approved list
and getting preliminary acceptances from the people in case they have to make a decision. But, I want assurances that the Hearings are going to take place whether Gonzo stays or not! Just getting rid of Gonzo and leaving the appointments as they are does nothing toward taking care of the problem.

7. It must be true, then
The Bush White House lies about everything, so if they say they aren't searching, you can bet your bottom dollar they are.

9. I was inordinately pleased, this morning, to hear Jerry Nadler
describe this administration-I don't recall his exact words-as stunningly dishonest and that you couldn't believe anything they say.
Most politicians, all reporters and most news commentators just aren't very bright, although they have a gift for prattling on for hours and saying next to nothing. Original thoughts are so very precious because there are so vanishingly few of them. To hear an actual congresscritter come out and tell the truth instead of making up some sort of political humma-humma (translate-lie) is amazing.

Lying, treasonous bastards are dangerous, not so much because of their inability to tell the truth, but because of their sheer incompetence at it. They can't be trusted even to lie adequately. Most republicans will give these guys a pass, unfortunately, as the famous quote, most often attributed to Lincoln, goes-you can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time, but republicans demonstrate genius at believing pie in the sky.

11. Dear ABC: The word is "pore" not "pour"
If nothing else, the misuse of blogs by national news services shows that in the raw writing (without editors, spelling monitors and fact checkers), major media reporters are as prone to stupid writing mistakes as anyone else. When these guys puff themselves up with their major media credentials, remember they're not necessarily any smarter than us in the rabble.

Perino's statement is a classic non-denial denial, but the reporters at ABC are apparently too young to remember the 1970s.

18. From the looks of it, yes
Go to Google news and search on Iran. War drums are beating. Here's what I saw:

John Bolton says, "Blah blah blah."

Iranian dissident says Iran is training Iraqi fighters in an effort to drive US out of Iraq.

Hamas - Iran links.

Iran Threatens to Retaliate, Kidnap U.S. Soldiers

Looks like they've just replaced the q with an n. But this time I don't think Americans will buy their bill of goods.

I agree that it's inaccurate to say the WH is SEARCHING for Gonzo successor...

it would more accurate to say the WH has found Gonzo successor and is currently searching for a graceful exit plan for him
