MSNBC: US: "Credible threat" of major attack in Italy
msnbc.com link

I suppose this makes sense for several reasons: The Italian government supported our invasion of Iraq and there are many Christian landmarks in Italy, for those radical Muslims who see this as a holy war...Hopefully this is just another false alarm...

1. I just realized how cynical I have become ...
my first thought was this administration will probably make sure they are attacked.

2. This is ludicrous....
the so-called "terrorists" would gain NOTHING by attacking the
Vatican or any other catholic site. It does not serve their purpose.
Seriously... :wtf:

3. Religious fundamentalists don't always behave rationally...
...and it depends on what their agenda might is. That having been said, an attack on the Vatican or another Christian site would likely just galvanize anti-Muslim (or at least anti-Islamist) sentiment in other predominantly Catholic nations with little long-term benefit for the Islamists' cause, so I tend to agree with you...

5. That...and they even came out and said that Saddam's treatment...
was "inhumane". Remember that Saddam Hussein had cordial diplomatic
relations with the Vatican AND his former Minister of Exterior
Relations was a catholic. The Vatican never closed its embassy even
during the so-called "shock and awe" phase... Makes you wonder, no?

10. Oh, so Al Queda is now somehow related to Saddam?
I doubt they could give a large rat's ass about the treatment of Saddam.

6. And the Vatican against capital punishment
for Saddam...

Don't make a lot of sense...(for Muslims 'extremists') to do it....makes more sense if---well that would be tinfoil talk.

P-2 lodge still active...?
