U.S. soldier abducted last year shown in terrorist video alive
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 06:43 AM by maddezmom
BAGHDAD (CNN) -- An Iraqi -American soldier abducted last October while serving in Baghdad was seen alive in a video posted on an Shiite militant Web site Wednesday and identified by his uncle to CNN.

It is unclear when the video was made.

Spec. Ahmed K. Altaie was kidnapped Oct. 23 while serving as a translator and has since been listed by the U.S. military as "duty status and whereabouts unknown."

The previously unknown group identified themselves as the "Ahel al-Beit Brigades" in an online posting. It is the first public claim of responsibility for the abduction.

Report: Missing Iraqi-American in Video
BAGHDAD, Iraq - A Shiite militant group has released a video of an Iraqi-American soldier who was kidnapped nearly four months ago while visiting his wife in downtown Baghdad, an American television network reported Wednesday.

The U.S. government has offered a $50,000 reward leading to the recovery of Iraqi-born American Army translator Ahmed Qusai al-Taayie, a 41-year-old reserve soldier from Ann Arbor, Mich., who was abducted by gunmen on Oct. 23.

2. No way ... you think that the military BRASS not letting our whorish M$M know
this and many other POW's situations THAT they really give a damn other than finishing their General Officer Careers and making a fortune in the Private Contracting Sector dubbed as "Gray Beards." Think again? The vast majority of General Officers left in the Pentagon's purge by Rummy (who's still there!) are proving to be ALL BUSINESS and nothing but BUSINESS. :puke:

By Mussab Al-Khairalla

BAGHDAD, Feb 14 (Reuters) - CNN broadcast a video on Wednesday showing
a U.S.-Iraqi soldier who was kidnapped in Baghdad nearly five months ago.

The undated video, posted on a militant Web site, showed Ahmed al-Taie,
a 41-year-old U.S. Army linguist, reading a statement. The soldier appeared
to be in good health and was reading a statement. The sound was muted.

His uncle, Entifadh al-Taie, said he had been talking via e-mail to the
kidnappers, who called themselves the Ahlul-Bayt Brigades, and they had
made a list of demands, none of them financial.

"I refused to talk to them until they showed proof of life," he told Reuters
by telephone from Washington. "The video isn't sufficient because it has no
date. But I am willing to talk to them if they contact me."

4. Funny, isn't it, that you never hear of this abduction on the news
oh, I forgot. It isn't a cute blonde. And of course none of our troops are being held captive, are they? Since this guy was a translator, he must've wanted to be abducted. :sarcasm:

7. They will not mention anyone because then the whole "we torture them-but expect them not to torture"
issue would be raised.
This is why when we tortured the first Iraqi, we put every single troop in jeopardy. We will not be able to say anything if the Iraqis shoule decide to do terrible things to any of our troops. The government knows this, so we will not hear about troops being captured. (Oh look, Anna Nicole Smith is still dead)
