Former WorldCom chief dies (Sidgmore)
Former WorldCom chairman and chief executive officer John Sidgmore has died aged 52 after suffering kidney failure, his family said.

Mr Sidgmore died from "complications associated with kidney shutdown presumptively related to acute pancreatitis," the family said in a statement, adding the funeral will be held on Sunday.

Mr Sidgmore steered WorldCom for seven months from April 2002 following the resignation of former chief executive Bernard Ebbers amid a stock price collapse and hints of accounting irregularities.

WorldCom has since been renamed MCI.

"We are deeply saddened by John Sidgmore's passing. He was a true Internet visionary, leader and friend who had an uncanny ability of bringing joy into people's lives," MCI said in a separate statement.

Oh well. No big loss there.

"We are deeply saddened by John Sidgmore's passing. He was a true Internet visionary, leader and friend who had an uncanny ability of bringing joy into people's lives,"

Try telling that to the poor saps who got laid off on his watch.

As you can tell, I am "deeply saddened" by this news.

It's times like this when I hope there is a hell.

:nopity:

5. Sounds like this guy was there to pick up the pieces
and may not have been one of the guilty.
