Prison chief arrested after Saddam's nephew escapes
Iraqi authorities say they have arrested the head of the jail from which former president Saddam Hussein's nephew escaped a day ago.

National police spokesman Brigadier General Abdel Karim Khalaf has said on national TV the escape of Ayman Sabawi appears to have been an inside job.

"We have detained the prison head and his deputy," he said.

Brig Gen Khalaf says Iraqi authorities were tipped off that members of the former ruling Baath party were planning to free Sabawi.

"We had provided this information to prison authorities but they failed to prevent it," he said
