Iraqi suicide bombs strike mosque and US troops
<clips>

A suicide bomber blew up a car packed with explosives outside an American military base in northern Iraq yesterday, injuring more than 40 US troops and six Iraqi civilians. A few hours later, a second bomber killed himself and injured two soldiers in an attack in a town 15 miles outside Baghdad.

The first attack happened at about 4.45am in the town of Talafar, 235 miles north-west of Baghdad, when a car drove to the gates of the base. Guards at the gate and in a watchtower reportedly opened fire and moments later the vehicle exploded, leaving a large crater in front of the gate.

Colonel Michael Linnington, the commander of the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division, said the car bomb was a suicide mission and that the attacker's remains were "all over the compound". He added: "Right now we have four soldiers that were evacuated and are being treated for blast injuries. In addition, 37 soldiers have nicks, cuts, bruises and some broken bones."

An Iraqi translator was also injured in the blast, which damaged nearby homes. Several other civilians, including a two-year-old girl, were hurt by flying glass. The US garrison apparently escaped more serious casualties because of the huge sand barriers erected around the base, and because most troops were still in their barracks. There was no traffic in the vicinity.

2. Good News for Once?
This is a yahoo article here:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1514&e=3&u=/afp/20031210/wl_mideast_afp/iraq_us_terror_demo_031210162701
---------------------------------------------------------
Thousands of Iraqis.. demonstrated in Baghdad and other cities to condemn "terrorism" in their country.

"Terrorism .... will delay the process of rebuilding," said Eklass Khudhir, 30, one of four women holding a banner from the Iraqi Women's Organization.

"It's also a message of thanks to the coalition force for liberating Iraq from the dictator," said Musaya, an official with the Liberal Republic Iraqi Party.

"We will not allow the fascists to come back," added Farook al-Shamari,

--------------------------------------------------------------

It would be nice for Iraqi's to take control of that country and for our troops to come home!

Something has to happen to help our troops. Neither dean nor clark are promising to pull the troops.. Only dennis kucinich is the true antiwar candidate; and its not looking good for him unfortunately. The rest of them are hoping the UN will help us.. but bascially following Bush Policy :(

3. Today: Intl. Human Rights Day and they're protesting all over Iraq
From the article:

More than 2,500 protesters marched in the holy Shiite cities of Najaf and Karbala south of Baghdad. They asked for the transfer of security from the coalition to Iraqis.

A banner carried by the demonstrators in Najaf read, "Killing children is not resistance."

Another said: "Saddam Hussein and (Osama) bin Laden are two sides of the same coin."

In the Sunni town of Ramadi west of Baghdad, a hotbed of anti-US sentiment, about 100 people protested after a call by the local council.

They gathered under the protection of American troops while a counter-demonstration of about 70 people carrying photos of the Koran and Mecca threw stones at the Americans. Iraqi police dispersed them.

Other demonstrations also took place in Baqubah just north of Baghdad, and at Suleimaniya in Iraqi Kurdistan.

5. Here's a blog for you..
Basically a Iraqi right winger or something who likes "for the most part" Paul Bremer and supported the war. He posted a bunch of pictures on his blog listed below. Salam has his own things to say about him...

Hmm.... now it is me who linked to this weblog, and I am sure everyone has the right to say what they think, but this is kind of strange.

I would rather have President Bremer (Allah preserve him) ruling us than any of them.

pfui...filthy words wash your moth with soap young man.
