2 protesters climb ledge at NOAA
Associated Press

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Two environmentalists scaled a ladder Monday and sat on a ledge above an entrance to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to protest what they said is the agency's suppression of information on global warming.

The pair unfurled a banner that read, "Bush: Let NOAA Tell the Truth," while a small group of demonstrators handed out fliers on a nearby sidewalk.

Federal and Montgomery County police officers tried to persuade the protesters to come down, but by late morning they were still on their narrow perch. Both had food and water, as well as suction cups to help anchor themselves to the ledge, about 25 feet above the ground.

NOAA, a federal agency based in Silver Spring, studies climate, weather and the oceans. It issues long-term weather forecasts and studies the effects of global warming.

1. This would be a good time to donate to The Ruckus Society
I don't know if they're connected to this, but I sense their influence...

2. I have a friend who works there.
His comment was, "It would have been nice if they had climbed the right building. And if the banner had faced anything other than an apartment building." He didn't expand on his comment. I suspect he meant that the banner belonged at the White House. :)
