Bomb explodes in Afghanistan (Kandahar)

A big explosion in the centre of the southern Afghan city of Kandahar has injured several people.

The BBC reports that the blast was near one of the city's biggest hotels that is often used by foreigners.

It is thought that explosives attached to a parked motorcycle detonated shortly before 1:00pm (local time) in the centre of Kandahar.

The police commander in the city says that several people have been injured.

It is not yet clear whether anyone was killed.

...or Dick who said that. Something about the Taliban not making a resurgence in Afganistan. I seriously wanted soemoen to ask him "so you completely discount the reports, from the Afgan Government, that the Taliban has taken control of Eastern portions of the country and siezed control of several towns?
