Israeli general quits over conduct of Lebanon war
http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,1871549,00.html

A senior Israeli army officer resigned today, the first high-ranking figure to quit in the fallout after the war in Lebanon.

Major General Udi Adam was head of Israel's Northern Command, a key role in the war with Hizbullah, but faced criticism in the press for being overly cautious and hesitant. During the 34-day conflict he was effectively sidelined when another general was appointed above him.

Many Israelis are frustrated that the military failed to secure a comprehensive victory over the Hizbullah militia or retrieve the two soldiers whose capture in July triggered the conflict.

Other leaders, including the head of the army, Lieutenant-General Dan Halutz, and the defence minister, Amir Peretz, have suffered badly in opinion polls. Under public pressure the prime minister, Ehud Olmert, stepped up the profile of an inquiry into the war this week when he appointed a retired judge to head the investigation.

2. "being overly cautious and hesitant" Says so much, just that snippet.
I don't know Maj. Gen. Udi Adam from, well, Adam, but when he is criticized for being "overly cautious and hesitant" in an ill-conceived and criminal military misadvanture, I can say, on that level anyway, I can understand where he, not his critics, are coming from.

5. Can't have too much humanity going on in the IDF.
He probably couldn't stomach what they were asking him to do, just as many of the Refuseniks can't stand some of the inhumane things they are asked to do.

6. I don't know about this guy but Israelis need to start getting sick...
...of what their country's become and to learn to strive for what it could be. Just like Americans. Hopefully, everywhere.

The USA is losing respect around the world faster than their dollar is falling

Wake up USA peasants!

Your next vote will decide whether the USA survives,

or ends up like every other Empire . . .

as in

"The Rise and FALL of the _____________ Empire. . . "

Cuz they ALL fall ya know - -

Even if they got all the "guns"(or more nukes than anyone else)

Bushco has made it quite clear -

Murikka is allowed to have thousands of nukes with delivery systems of hitting hundreds of targets globally within hours.

Heaven forbid that Iran, North Korea, or anyone else have a nuke or two to defend themselves -

And from whom? may you ask

Well,

It'd be that "spreader of democracy" - The USA that wanders around the globe slaughtering people ("collateral damage" in their brains) to further their own evil, greedy goals.

Trouble is, they are doing it quite well . . .

(sigh)
