This is Kathy Bay Malloy and we just got news that as of this minute we've been terminated by Air America Radio.

We don't have all the details yet, but got a tip from someone who'd seen the new network lineup that we weren't included after all. We just had that confirmed by one of the suits a few minutes ago. We're told that its a financial decision.

He says there's no chance of him coming back to Air America- even if they begged him. They embarrased him, let him talk about his upcoming renewed contract and return to NYC, then finds out ON HIS WAY TO WORK that he's fired.

He was on our affiliate for an hour, took some calls, ranted a bit with our local hosts, and it felt like our own little personal Malloy show- as good a swan song as anyone could hope for, I guess...

Anyway, I just wanted to give you a head's up from what I heard this morning... I'm pissed off to be sure and sent a comment to AA saying so. Way to be an example of how a liberal/progressive radio network deals with employment/business issues- fire him on his way to work...assholes.

Dear Air America Management;

I feel like a family member has just been shot in a drive-by shooting. The
firing of Mike Malloy has hit me like a ton of bricks. I’ve been deeply
depressed all day long. On hearing the news I just killed the AirAmerica
stream I was listening to and don’t know when I’ll be able to turn it back
on. I feel betrayed, like my best friend just turned me over to HomeLand
Security for having liberal thoughts.

I’ve listen to Mike for years and taken great mental solace from the rage
Mike expresses. His rage makes me know that I am not alone in thinking
something is very wrong in America. My wife and I are far from radical
leftist. Just a couple of professionals (a geologist and writer) making do
in the middle class who feel that something has gone terribly wrong in
America and that someone like Mike needs to say it.

The rumors of why Mike was fired (1. He is scaring advertizers away or 2. He
allowed a 911Truth speaker on who let some anti Zionist conversations creep
in) make me think all the rumors about a few powerful people and
organizations controlling what we all hear and see are true. Could Mike be
such a threat that he has to be silenced? It seems to by pulling him off the
air it just confirms our worst suspicions about overt control by Zionist and
corporate interests. I believe you have cut off your nose to spite your
face. You certainly have undermined my faith in the motives of AA.

It is a true shame because I was a Big believer in AA and was working here
in Tallahassee to try and bring an AA station to town. No longer.

Mike was a vital part of your network. Al does the informative interviews,
Randi is the drive time yacker, and Thom the thinker. Mike was the fire and
Brimstone. That fire and my fire for you network has been extinguished.

My intent here is not to upset everyone, nor to kick Mike Malloy while he's down. He really does seem like a nice guy, and I do like his personality. (Wish I could give it to Randi Rhodes.)

But what you have here is a case of "too much sizzle and not enough stake."

Mike is good about ranting and raving, and I realize that that is very cathartic for some people, but he is not very good at sorting through the facts, and he's not as knowledgeable as he should be. (As one concrete example, I remember once he was talking about possible impeachment of the president and how it might happen, and Malloy didn't even know that this would begin the House Judiciary Committee.)

I truly am sad for him, and I wish him all the best. But if they end up replacing him with someone more skilled, then Air America has made the right decision.

My local AAR bumps Randi with Ed. Randi comes out three hours later on tape delay when I can't hear it at work. Mike was coming on at 10:00 pm but got cut back to just one hour after midnight.

The corporate spin-doctors have some kind of lever with the advertisers at AAR and are trying to marginalize and splinter the rest of us. All is okay with whatever but just be aware how successful AAR had become in so short of a time. I don't care who gets canned, Randi Rhodes, Sam Seder, Ed Schultz, Malloy. Radio Air America hosts have one responsibility, to reach those listeners who base their belief on rightwing lies. Mike just went too freakin ballistic too often, never really winning converts doing so, hardly doing so even when his argument was reasonable. Rightwingers tune out hosts who speak as unprofessionally, as unconvincingly as Mike did. It's probably best for Mike to take a break and reassess.

I've always figured Ed Schultz converted more republicans than any other host. He doesn't talk down to the listener near as much as the others.

About six months after moving to the Twin Cities, I thought "Hey, I wonder if there's an AAR station here", and found AAR. I started out listening to Ed Schultz on my way to work. I didn't listen to Mike on the way home at first; I was kinda suprised by the ranting. After about a month, I was listening every night.

Eventually I broke down and bought a $20 set of AM/FM headphones so I could listen at work, and now listen nearly eleven hours a day, from the last hour of Ed, 1st three hours of of Randi, the local Minnesota Matters show, The Majority Report, and end the day with Mike Malloy from 12-3am. For me, "End your day screaming... with Mike Malloy!" tagline was literally true.

I really like how Mike got very passionate about the topics of the day. I don't usually agree with how he handles the right-wingnuts that call in, but that is a rare occurance. Mike hammers home what "killed in Iraq" means when he uses such terms as "red mist". It is something we conveniently gloss over mentally. And when Mike read "1984"... God, he did that so well I actually forgot to keep working a couple of times.

Perhaps we can call Ed the 'gateway' personality for converting people back to the left. He is not a 'Volvo-driving, sushi-eating, tax-and-spend pacifist' (or however that phrase goes) frothing liberal.

And remember, Ed is on Armed Forces Radio, where he counters Rush. This is a vitally important mission. I wish Mike (or Randi; she's ex-USAF) could do it, but I doubt the Pentagon brass could keep their blood pressure down!

Ed Schultz's voice and tone of his show sound a lot like Limbaugh's. I used to love switching the radio dials of Rush-listening co workers to Ed just to watch what happened. Probably 50% of them would look like they had a light go on...wow Rush is really making sense...before realizing it wasn't Rush. But a good number of them then realized Rush was pedaling lies and Bush propaganda and became regular Ed listeners.

and the span of any time during the day that listen I hear Lionel, Randi, Rachel, Flanders(drive time), Stephanie, Franken, Ed(Mother Jones network). All others are a rarity no matter when I drive or in what states. I have heard Mike less than Ring of Fire which I have picked up substantially only a couple of times. Loyalty does not matter as much as opportunity and even if a station has to 24 hours maybe it is better to do it with repeats in the dead zones than bury a talent all the time.

Then one wonders, looking at past changes and the fact that the network is still a commercial enterprise, whether they are trimming their edges in the area of tone and ideology. If this was a matter of getting bumped for hard news alternative it would be easier to take(not being done), but we are talking about cutting off the few enough voices of reason people are left with on the radio.

Sam Seder said that last night that he was not supposed to talk about Malloy's firing - and then he did, lambasting the decision. Rachel Maddow this morning talked about how she is happy to be moving to 6 to 8 pm. but that the network won't let her reveal anything else about the schedule, including who will replace her in the mornings.

Tom Hartman was filling in for Randi Rhodes yesterday. When someone brought up the schedule, he interrupted the person and quickly said "We don't talk about program scheduling on the air" - he sounded like he was ordered to quickly shut down any discussion of the topic.

I haven't heard Sam Seder talk recently about his own future on the network. Last week, he said that if he left the air, it won't be his choice.

I did it--left AirAmerica--when they took Mike off WLIB about eight months ago.

It was a "financial reason" back then, too. They put the Satellite Sisters on because SS just paid for the time slot.

I really liked listening to Mike on the way home from my night classes. He just hit the spot with voicing my outrage. I would listen all the way home, about a 30-40" trip, and then I would arrive at home and listen to the rest of the program online. The evening came to an end with listening to Mike read Orwell.

Mike's loss will be tough. Some of us really need him, especially college teacher types, who tend to intellectualize everything. Listening to Mike helped me voice that outrage that is there but that I sometimes find so difficult to express.

This is a big loss for all of us, but in this post I wanted to point out how that loss will be experienced on a personal level.

After Mike was taken off the air, my evening trips home were lackluster and uninteresting. Where late evening had once been special, it was now just another trip home from the job.

I don't buy the "financial reasons" excuse especially if, as I have been reading, Springer is on the way out. Springer likely commanded a rather large paycheck given his notoriety. Eliminating that expense should have left plenty of room under the "salary cap" to keep a low budget show like Mike's for some time to come.

More likely someone wanted to restrict what Mike could say or perhaps even insist he lie, and Mike rightfully went Ballistic.

Couldn't have happened at a better time for me. My AAR Premium subscription ran out the day after this all happened. I purchased it only for Mike because my local station didn't carry his show. I didn't renew it.

Sorry Laura you're a sweetheart but perhaps a little too sweet to take 15 hours a week. I wasn't impressed with the Young Turks when they subbed for Mike and Randi in the past. I won't be renewing my subscription for either show.

First of all, there's a mighty big "IF" in your assessment. Perhaps you'd like to back that up with some stats.

Next, Air America has made a series of programming decisions based upon ?? what exactly I'm not sure, but my assessment (though lacking in data) is that they are going for short-term results instead of deciding who they want to be and taking a stand--and in the long run, bringing a larger, stronger audience around to them. In the long run, they will fail with this option, just as the Democrats may very well fail in 2008 by going with Hilary Clinton. When you disenfranchise your base of true believers (Mike Malloy's audience, per se) they will turn away or turn on you. That is what you are reading above.

The problem is, when you are supposed to be representing the higher, more intellectually crafted, more humanistic point of view; it would behoove the AAR organization to walk its talk, so to speak.

Here is some selected text from emails I have sent to AAR in the past. I stopped trying to communicate with them, as they never have seen fit to reply, even when I was offering to help promote them.:

--This was in response to the stupid pop-up ads that they abuse their streaming listeners with-- "I have been an avid Air America listener for about 3 years, and cannot afford, nor can I condone, the latest 'pay for access' philosophy of your premium listener program. So how much money would it cost me to be able to stream your radio, all day, with audio commercials only. Maybe I could spare you a few bucks . . ."

--This was part of my response to the Air America Premium Program--: "I’m beginning to feel about Air America the way I’ve felt about our political system for some time now: disenfranchised and powerless. I don’t need radio to help me get in touch with those feelings; the Bush administration does the job quite nicely."

Just like the Democrats, if you try to beat your opponent at the same game by becoming more like them, sinking to their level, you have already lost.

Take a tip from Karl: never disenfranchise your base.

I do not have any reason to distrust AAR, so I will assume that was the reason until I learn otherwise. But I think it is detrimental to ourselves to attack our own (AAR in this case), when so little is known about a situation. If the facts come out that they dropped him because he wasn't toeing the line, then go ahead and curse AAR to the ground. Until then, jumping to false conclusions can only hurt us.

Also, while never disenfranchising your base makes sense in politics, it is not always possible in business when those actions keep you in the red.

I was a sometimes listener to Malloy. His departure will not end Air America Radio though. He wasn't even their NYC flagship and was not on many affiliates. The stations he was on was usually very late at night.

Air America Radio HAD two shows I listened to regularly. Mike and Randi. Both speak the truth, but Randi gets annoying by talking over the callers. Now with Malloy no longer on your lineup I see little reason to continue listening.

Apparently the Democratic Leadership Council had a hand in this decision. It's just the sort of thing they like to do. And please don't claim it was a strictly financial decision. I am scratching my head about the latest dumb move by Air America, firing Mike Malloy.

It really seems more and more like you are actually trying to sabotauge the station. Well one less reason to keep my XM radio, I guess. I already have to turn it off when Jerry Springer comes on - which was really the only time I was able to listen, when driving to work. I used to listen to unfiltered and morning sedition, but turned off air america radio when you took those off. I also listen to Randi Rhodes and the Majority Report fairly regularly- are they the next to go? I almost hate to tell you that Rachel Maddow is my favorite show though I rarely get to listen due to how early it is on now. I guess that will be next, then there will be no reason to listen anymore.

What a shame - to build loyal listeners who were willing to give you a chance when you were new, then cancel all their favorite shows so you no longer have listeners. The station started to go down the drain when that new person was hired to run the station - don't feel like going to the trouble to look up his name but I think he is the new CEO or something. Dumb. I am starting to wonder if this isn't a right wing takeover of the station - cause they don't want liberals to have a radio station. It sure is looking more like that. Sure am glad I didn't pay extra to get XM in my new car I just bought now, like I did to buy Sirius to get Air America (which is now worthless for that now - thanks for that too.) All bookmarks have been deleted and their sanctioned spam in my inbox (which I presume benefited them somehow) has been rescinded and blocked.
After ending ALL my favorite shows in the past couple of years, culminating with canning Mike, they can suck wind for all I care.

No one wanted them to succeed more than me. In the early days before Malloy was even on, I used to tune my computer into them even when I wasn't home to help them get ratings.

But every decision they have made since then has sucked. Their stream has gone from bad to worse. It used to be that it would just cut out at least several times in a particular show. Now it still cuts out all the time but I can't even jump around from page to page like I used to because they changed it. The damn thing plays hell with my web browser. Hey AAR, having trouble getting new viewers for Malloy? FIX YOUR FUCKING STREAM SO PEOPLE CAN LISTEN! Don't fire one of the greatest talents you have. Randi is the only other one that even comes close. Your beloved Franken is a total bore and the rest I don't give a damn about.

I was going to become a premium subscriber to them next month as well. That's not going to happen now, and it won't until I see signs that AAR is not going to run itself into the ground because its run by idiots. Their stock has just tanked with me.

when he substituted for Randi Rhodes. I believe it was her 4pm slot here in Ann Arbor (WIQB). The station really sucked at night, so I actually bought TWO XM radios (one for the car, the other for my room) just so I could hear MM's show during his 10pm time slot. Afterwards, I listen to Coast to Coast with George Noory (yes, I know it sounds odd). I absolutely loved hearing that man passionately rip the hell out of the Bush Administration, and he gave me a sense of hope that he and many others knew the truth and that soon we would be back on the right track.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my 10pm routine now...words can't describe how disappointed I am with AAR...why should I bother listening to them????

I listened because my car radio is tuned to Air America and when I'm driving late at night his show is on. I continued to listen because I like to have an informed opinion. If I'm going to disagree with someone, I want to make sure I'm hearing what they have to say, not what someone else tells me they've said.

It's called having an informed opinion.

This is a dangerous time for America and people need the cold, hard facts. There are a lot of people speaking the truth, Mike Malloy being one of them. Remaining silent in the face of ignorance is not what these people are doing.

I disagree with Mike's approach and some of the things he has said, and I'm not going to keep it quiet or keep it to myself just because he happens to be on the same team I am. It may be unfair, but I'm going to hold him to a higher standard than I would a conservative because he's on my side, because these issues are so important, and because at the end of the day I believe we are better than the Republicans.

I understand how Christianity has come to be associated with fundamentalist thought. The conservative church has pushed it's agenda and beliefs to the forefront of Christianity in America and it has done as much damage to religion as conservatives have done to politics. However, there are those of us who are fighting against this. There is a progressive movement in Christianity that is taking on the conservatives who have hijacked our faith. Bishop Spong, Marcus Borg and Jim Wallis are a few of the leaders in this movement.

When it comes to religion, I think Mike Malloy is ignorant and dead wrong and does a great injustice to those of us who are fighting for our faith and because of our faith. We are not the enemy.

I am a long time listener to Malloy. First started listening before Air America ever came into existence. I've always had a lot of ambivalence about his style.

There are days where is incredibly inflammatory rants are just what my tired, frustrated little ol' progressive heart wants to hear. It's cathartic. However there are many other days where I question what, if anything, positive his ranting accomplishes.

It's certainly a given that none of the "movable middle" of America is going to be persuaded by Malloy's style. Let's just accept that right up front. If you're not already with Mike, you're not going to be moved or persuaded by his hostile angry ranting. But that is clearly not the purpose of the show.

I concluded that the purpose of Malloys show more than anything was as a kind of progressive support-group. A place to listen to someone vent, and express the daily frustration we all feel without qualification and without apology. I suppose that's a fine thing. But for me it doesn't make it something that can keep my interest.

Over the years I've spent listening to Malloy (for a long time I actually didn't know of many progressive alternatives other than Malloy) I've found that there was really very little by way of informative content. Just a lot of venting. So lately I've become much more interested in some radio personalities that bring a little more balance of substance with truth speaking.

I don't think Sam Seder, for instance, is any less truthful that Malloy, but I do think his style is more inviting and persuasive. There is a lot of factual substance provided in Sam's format that I don't find as frequently with Malloy. Randi has her own set of problems. For instance, Mike is ten times more pleasant to even his supportive callers than Randi. No question Randi comes across as having quite the ego. However, her monologues are far, far more persuasive and compelling than Mikes very shrill very alienating screaming tirades.

Again, Mike seems to cater to the thing inside of us that just wants to let all our pent up frustration and anger out. I don't necessarily think that makes for good radio in general, and I don't necessarily think that does much of anything to try to influence hearts and minds toward more democratic or progressive thinking in the US. And I think that should be a goal of what AAR accomplishes.

Now, it will be interesting to see how long it takes for me to be called a freeper because I don't think Malloy is that good of radio. Malloy fans tend to take a "either your with us or your with the terrorist" tone toward everyone else. :)

It already is happening with shouters being charged with disorderly conduct just for loudly stating their opinion at a speech.

Mike Malloy is an incredibly outspoken person. Though I don't know the man, I would find it hard to believe he would ever back down from a discussion of what he believes. I respect the intensity of his feeling and his willingness to speak plainly what is on his mind.

You've come into this discussion fairly late. I had spoken my peace at a time this morning when this seemed like an appropriate place to speak it. I’ll start by stating unequivocally that I do not wear a tin-foil hat, but has anyone else noticed…

The so-called liberal media has room for as much hate-filled and deceptive right-wing bile as there are hours in the day to broadcast it, but the one network that leans left (barely) is constantly beset by managerial and technical problems. We can’t even have ONE station?

We live in the Dallas area, easily one of the top five radio markets in the United States. Here, Air America broadcasts on a tiny AM station from outlying Frisco (a bastion of lily-white Republican wealth and status). The station cannot even be received in much of Dallas. When you can get it, it has an inordinate amount of technical malfunctions. Strange blasts of loud static or broadcasts popping in from some other stations. Often when the discussion gets a bit controversial or too far off of the official Main Stream Media talking points, the signal just conveniently disappears for five or ten minutes.

Then there is the rather unadventurous “hosts” employed here. Should any caller bring up the absolute incredibility of the official version of 9/11, for example, most of the hosts will cut them off and quickly respond that, while Bush may be the biggest liar in the world or the most incompetent leader that ever lived, to suggest there is any method to the madness is just crazy talk. “I just don’t believe he’d do that”
Springer responds to a caller who suggests official complicity, which is blatantly obvious to anyone with eyes and ears. Similarly they have time to tell us to vote a million times a day, but rarely does anyone point out that until the DNC or ANYONE is willing to address the Diebold question, our voting is really a rather inconsequential waste of time and effort.

And the cherry on top of this poo-sundae is a constantly grating collection of the worst commercials ever aired in the history of broadcasting. My gosh! “Trespass on railroad property, and someone you love will die!” “Daddy, I’m only three years old, but when you look at me, I can see the wheels turning.” “I’m adopted! How cool is that?!” “Come to our Get Rich Quick Scheme Seminar!” Frankly I’d rather take a whipping than sit through these god-awful commercials, many of which are for services and schemes absolutely contrary to basic principals of liberalism to say the least.

And now the most truthful and coherent on air personality they EVER had is mysteriously gone?

After listening regularly for the past year, I would have to say Air America has failed to deliver on its promise. Add to this the fact that we are represented nowhere on the televised media and nowhere in the mainstream print media, and this adds much to the oppressive concern that our democracy is already gone. Perhaps this is the message we are suppose to get from it?

The bottom line for me is: progressives in America have to do something dramatic, bold, courageous or we are lost. This action against such a strong personality as Mike seems to be is in the exact opposite direction of where we should go.

What we usually do is listen to Mike live off the XM satellite at 7PM, and then play the show a second time at 11 PM from your local affiliate KQKE in San Francisco so we can hear any segments we missed. If you lose serious, hard-core, affluent Air America listeners like my wife and me in markets like San Francisco, your advertising's going to dry up, and your network won't survive.

And that means those of you at the network responsible for this incredibly stupid and self-destructive decision will end up looking for new jobs, too, once advertisers like Volkswagen pull out. Christ almighty, we were planning to go look at new Jettas this weekend because of all the VW advertising we heard on Malloy's show. My wife says we're now going back to Saturn instead.

All in all,I have to agree with the majority on this one...AAR has made a very poor decision, be it "financial," philosophical or otherwise. Those who post that everyone "should keep listening to AAR no matter what so we (progressives) present a "united" front" don't seem to get it... we are listening to the personalities we enjoy, we are not listening to "our party line radio station" to be listening to ANY party line radio station. When Maron was dumped, I just went back to my MP3 player (until a competitor local liberal station (yes, we have TWO) started airing Steph Miller). This was because <whoever it is> AAR replaced him with was (is) boring. The Maron/Riley mix was perfection... what they have now isn't even close. I can't listen to much of Franken because (sorry) he's a horrific radio personality. His per-show "errr...ummm" count must be in the thousands. Randi is tolerable. Springer is a (boring) whore. I like Seder, and I'm glad Garafalo is gone (shrill and repetitive). But driving home with Malloy (started 7PM local time) was great. And, yes, sometimes I turned even him off when I just wasn't in the right mindset for the rants. But he surely calls 'em like he sees 'em and that's the bottom line. So AAR dumps the 2 people that I ENJOYED listening to leaves me with (to me) a simple choice: move on. If AAR doesn't get it, doesn't understand how many listeners they're alienating and they crash-and-burn as a result, well, so be it, by golly. They've made their choices and I'm making mine. As far as Malloy going satellite, whatever, I hope he does so soon so those of us who are his fans can continue to enjoy him. Coincidence? You might be aware that Mike Malloy did an interview with Clint Curtis on July 27th. The day after the Clint Curtis campaign does a email blast to everyone 8/29/06 after 10pm (which contained a Streaming link to Mike Malloy's interview) Mike Malloy gets the boot. Don't ya love conspiracies?

At approximately 7:30pm this evening, I received an automated-message Paid for by Tom Feeney, but which sounded like a positive, position piece for Clint Curtis for Congress.

When I heard it, I thought Clint Curtis’ campaign might have paid for a “get-the-vote-out” kind of auto-message. I was thinking, “Yah!” because I’m convinced that Clint is the right man to represent me in the US Congress.

It was not an obnoxious message; it was not too long. I was listening, almost giggling that Curtis’ campaign had pulled off a good effort if I was getting the auto-call. The call came and went so quickly, I could only remember phrases like: Protect Social Security, endorsed by the Transport Workers Union of NASA.

But, I was shocked by the finale of the call: “Paid for by Tom Feeney.” What is Tom up to? So I did some sleuthing. A friend of mine got a call in the Titusville area (Clint Curtis’ campaign headquarters is in Titusville). She said that it was a positive call and she remembers the mention of endorsement by the Daytona Beach Journal. She got the Toll free 1-866-849-3243. She redialed the number. It answered with "Voice Messaging" “You are calling because you missed our call. Hang up. We will call again later. Press 1 to prevent further calls; press # to enter a different number, press 9 to end call.”

Also quite strange as I research this more. Another friend received a bulk mailer, comparing apples and oranges – Clint the apple; Feeney the orange. This bulk mailer was also paid for by Tom Feeney. And it is written in language that Democrats respond too: reproductive rights, energy independence, Protect American jobs, end the failed adventure in Iraq? The mailer had “PRESORTED STANDARD U.S. POSTAGE PAID” stamp is Strategum Group, Inc.

More research…democrats and republican alike have receive this mailer. Clint did not even win the Primary yet? Why is Feeney so focused on Clint? What does he have planned?

Accuracy in Media guy, Cliff Kincaid feels it is due to problems arising from Mike's interview with Webster Tarpley about a month ago.

AAR is in some financial difficulty and has been looking to George Soros for a major investment.

Tarpley, an associate of Lyndon la Rouche, apparently wrote in his book "9-11 Synthetic Terror" that "Soros has been one of those behind-the-scenes money manipulators telling Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserve what to do. You can read all about it on page 116 of the Tarpley book. It probably didn't look good for Air America to be featuring someone who has been critical of the network's hoped-for financial savior."

AAR didnt want to piss off Soros, so they let Mike go.

Seems pretty short sighted to me but it would be a "financial reason".

I have been following Tarpley closely since his interview with Mike Malloy a month ago and this Kincaid column is the first I've heard anything about any association with LaRouche.

In fact, I don't think there's anything "looney" about Tarpley. CSPAN doesn't either, because they aired him 4 times in the last month. In his weekly radio program and his lectures posted on Google Video, Tarpley (a Princeton University alum who graduated at the top of his class) consistently presents cogent, well-reasoned arguments. By contrast, what we're being served up from this Kincaid guy is swiftboating based on guilt by association.

Just because somebody works for an "accuracy in media" group doesn't mean we can suspend critical judgment of what he argues. I think this Kincaid guy is far from the kind of source one can believe without question.

Mr. Kincaid took excerpts of the interview and used them completely out of context. I distinctly remember Tarpley telling Mike to call him "Web" and when the subject of Cynthia McKinney came up, I beleive Mike said that he was a bigger supporter of her father and that he was less than thrilled with some of the things that had been going on with her recently. Does anyone else recall this?

Started getting up at 6 a.m. in the lead-up to the war to
listen to Robert Knight on WBAI. Then he was removed about the
time Air America started up, and I quickly became attached to
Marc Maron and Mark Riley on Morning Sedition, expanding
through the afternoon with Randi Rhodes, and best of all, up
at 10 o'clock with Mike Malloy.  In time, I had to give up
something, which meant Randi and Seder for time considerations
across the afternoon and early evening.  Then you removed Marc
and Mark from the morning routine, dammit, which left longer
to sleep after late night--every night-- with Mike Malloy, the
only voice of reason for me.  I left N.Y.C. just before Mike
was dropped from LIB, and was tuning in on line to the MIC 91
in Madison (or catching up at White Rose), where I discovered
Stephanie Miller, who became my daily morning regimen, for
some right-wing levity.  And Mike every night piercing the
heart of the daily reality, which no one else on the radio or
the teevee takes us to.  And now you've gone and done him in. 
My thrill at being on the radio from the get-go with Air
America and later on line has, it seems, reached the end of
the line.  Unless I catch Randi some in the afternoon.  That's
it.  Why have you so screwed up such a splendid operation?

712. The Revolution Will Not be Televised, Nor Broadcast!

Mike has been too much of a Truth Teller, especially about the Do Nothing Democrats. ARR is supposed to be the Broadcast propaganda machine of the DNC, like FOX is for the Repugnants. Jessie Jaskson is a major investor in ARR. Mike is too honest. he would never have lasted.

I have the pleasure of listening to Bernie Ward and Ray Teliafero on KGO 810 AM from San Francisco. Been listening to them for years. They should have had national sydicated shows long ago. But, they too are too honest, tell it like it is without any DNC BS. Mike is right there with them, and maybe even more no holds barred.

We also have the other radio station 1240 AM in Sacramento with Stephanie Miller in the morning - my all time AM favorite, Tom Hartman, Schultz, and Christine Craft (local). I hope they sign up Mike there.

I have long ago stopped listening to Al Franken - too much of a self-promoter and DNC apologist. Randy Rhodes gets too self-absorbed with that "I'm always right" arrogance. Can only take so much of her. So, Mike was my only reason for listening to ARR, especially since Jenine (sp?) Garafolo is not there anymore. Sam Seeder isn't bad and I like Laura Flanders on the weekend - she needs to have a fulltime, primetime show!

But, if the idiots at ARR fired Mike Malloy then they do not have my support. Honestly, the radio will not save us, or the country or the planet. Our individual and collective efforts in our daily lives will be what saves us. Mike is a great inspiration and we need that, but we can't expect corporate profit as the bottom line driven media to be anything other than corporatists.
