General: Iraqi security needs 12-18 mos.

Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The top U.S. general in Iraq said Wednesday he believes
Iraqi security forces can take over security with little coalition support
within a year to 18 months.

"I don't have a date, but I can see over the next 12 to 18 months, the Iraqi
security forces progressing to a point where they can take on the security
responsibilities for the country, with very little coalition support,"
Gen. George Casey said in Baghdad.

5. JUST A FEW MORE DEAD TROOPS
They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war,
there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
Creeps about this petty place from day to day
to the last syllable of recorded time; Out, out, brief candle!
Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player who
struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then
is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot
Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

- Macbeth

4. Well, two to three Friedmans
And Crashcart told the troops just yesterday that the decision to withdraw troops rested with the military commanders, contradicting what Simpleton said last week. So, is Casey telling us that the troops will be home no later than February 2008?

6. Theis "we're almost there" meme is a ploy to buy them a little more
time. They know what the American people want. They are desperately trying to figure out how to get out of this without being "cut and runners" like the weak dems. How can he speak of a complete takeover by the iraqi forces when this civil war rages and troops and iraqi soldiers are dying in record numbers?

11. Look where we are.
The idea that the US should find itself attempting to prevent civil war in a foreign country is ludicrous.

How many people would have supported the Iraq invasion if they had been aware that this is where we would end up?

13. Getting ready to pull out JUST before he leaves office to help give.....
his "legacy" a boost. I'm already laughing at what I know is going to be a hilarious PR campaign over the next few years.
