DeLay Says Courts Erred in Ballot Ruling
08.24.2006, 08:53 PM

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said he never thought the courts would prevent the Republican Party from replacing him on the November ballot, a Houston television station reported Thursday.

"I'm very disappointed in our justice system. There doesn't seem to be justice," DeLay told KTRK-TV.

DeLay, R-Sugar Land, won the GOP primary in March but resigned from Congress in June and moved to Virginia as he faced increasing scrutiny over ethical troubles, including state money laundering charges and fallout from his association with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

The state Republican Party declared DeLay ineligible, setting up a plan for party insiders to choose a replacement candidate to face Democrat Nick Lampson, a former congressman, in the fall.

2. Well, Boo Hoo!!
"There just doesn't seem to be justice." The fact that The Hammer is not wearing an orange jumpsuit confirms that! Not wearing one YET!!

3. So DeLay made a mistake.
He miscalculated and his political stunt blew up in his face. Therefore, it must be the courts who are wrong.

THere oughtta be a way to test and evaluate candidates for public office to determine whether or not they have matured past a nine year old level.

4. It's not a court of JUSTICE, Bugman...it's a court of LAW.
Isn't that a nice Repub talking point? Pretty sour
when it's YOU that has to suck it, eh Tom?

Either way, you are still a crooked, lying POS who
got caught BREAKING the law, and didn't get away with it
for once.

So go find some cheese to go with your WHINE, Tom.
We're sick of hearing it.

5. If he was that concerned about losing the district
the Texas governor could have called a special election, when Bug Boy decided to CUT AND RUN, so the voters in the district could decide who they wanted to represent them on the ballot. Instead the GOP decided it wasn't important enough for the voters to make that decision. So, they failed in their attempt to Game the System.

So, all in all they have themselves to BLAME.....

BYE BYE Bug Boy

6. Say it ain't so Tom!
DeLay said he is helping with a book about his career and how the last 22 years of the country's history helped advance the conservative cause. He said he will not become a lobbyist and will never again run for political office.

These folks are so Christian

8. The day Delay declared war on the judiciary
was the day his case's fate was sealed. You can't tell me Scalia didn't have a big smile on his face, if he didn't LOL, when he signed the order denying a hearing for bugman.

10. Interpretation:
"I thought I would be able to get away with cutting and running with my campaign contributions by running, transferring them to my legal fund, and then hand picking a new candidate. Damn, I should have paid the judges more"

Tom, you knew you weren't going to stick around before the primary. You reap what you sow.

12. Dear Tom..
... If I were you I'd get used to court rulings that you don't like. You've got several more coming, some from judges and others from juries. Bon Appetit

13. Oh Tommy boy, YOU'RE disappointed in our justice system?
The fact that you're still walking around a free man is a far greater disappointment than a legal ruling that your attempted gaming of the system didn't work for a change.

Shall we talk about illegal redistricting?

Sending out Homeland Security to round up absent state legislators?

Massive corruption?

Fraud?

Malfeasance?

The Graybar Hotel beckons, Tom. I'm hoping you're a guest for a nice long time.

14. Christian Reconstructionists don't believe the courts have any role
in society other than to protect freedom (meaning property). This is right out of the Dominionist's mantra.

16. Well Tom, apparently the courts don't give a shit what you THOUGHT. They
are sworn to follow the law and the constitution, not Tom Delay's THOUGHT. Imagine that. I didn't hear you complaining when the SCOTUS allowed your little mid-decade gerrymander to stand. Apparently the courts are ok sometimes?
