Lebanon crisis 'cannot continue' (Blair wants ceasefire now)
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 12:42 PM by IndianaGreen
Lebanon crisis 'cannot continue'

Prime Minister Tony Blair has said the situation in the Middle East "simply cannot continue".
His comments followed the attack in Qana, southern Lebanon, where more than 54 civilians, at least 34 of them children, died.

Mr Blair, speaking in San Francisco, is seeking a new UN resolution which would lead to a complete ceasefire.

He has said "there is no basis for hostilities to continue", describing the Qana attack as "tragic".

He said it was "an absolutely tragic situation" and called for a United Nations resolution to halt the Lebanon conflict "now".

2. F**K YOU bLIAR!
You were just this week in Washington kissing Bush's ass and agreeing about no need for a quick cease fire. Now, bLiar knows it's going to be hot for him back home--so he changes his tune. A little late poodle boy.

A lapdog with a conscience? Too bad he didn't discover his moral compass before 54 people died at Qana.

6. Even Blair could not avoid hearing the cries of Israel's bombing victims
Meanwhile Bush is back home totally oblivious to what is going on.

25. Or before tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians were either...
- kidnapped in their homes to be tortured at Abu Ghraib and other more 'secret' Iraqi prisons.

- poisoined with illegal radioactive depleted-uranium particules.

- burned by the illegal use of white phophorous as offensive weapons.

- maimed or murdered by illegal cluster bombs.

The ICC may be 'collecting' the evidence on you at The Hague's tribunal, bLiar, in case ya don't recall...

18. Because Bush told tony @ the G-8 that Condi had things well in hand.
After being summoned by Little Lord Bush with "Yo, Blair", Tony suggests that Bush send Blair out to the Middle East. "Piss off Tony and get me a diet pepsi while I run over and goose the German Chancellor." Remember? I despise these assholes.

8. Spotted it!
Had to read the article to see if it mentioned whether or not Blair had secured w's approval before speaking to the press ... and there it was buried in the item:

Our correspondent said Mr Blair was speaking to US president George Bush as well as other world leaders in the hope of developing a package which could be voted on and agreed by the UN, leading to a resolution allowing both sides to end the conflict.

So read the carefully worded statement - that suggests something needs to happen NOW, but actually only talks about future efforts, - must have the seal of approval by W and company.

Really quite pathetic.

Had to read closely, but there is still wiggle room in the statement to support the footdragging that is apparent in DC.

9. MSNBC just showed Bush speaking about "sustainable peace"
Looks to me like Bush will have Bolton veto any UN resolution that calls for immediate ceasefire, and Tony's goose will be cooked when he returns to the UK.

11. If Tony's goose were able to be cooked,
he'd be a fine delicacy/gourmet meal long before now. I would suggest that how he continues on is beyond me... but really, how bushco keeps strengthening their power rather than being run out of town (and the country) on a pole is already beyond me...

He doesn't want it now, he wants it after he gets to negotiate his precious UN resolution.......which Israel figures should be after another 10 to 14 days of shelling, death and destruction.

17. Bombing Lebanon too hard just plays into Hezbollah's plans
I just want what's best for peace. But Blair isn't one to talk: I know that invading Iraq did not help matters one bit. We just made Iran more powerful. Didn't exactly set the stage for negotiations in the Middle East, either.

19. Would ANY kind of UN resolution apply to Hezbollah?
I'm sure someone will let me know if I'm all wet on this, but wouldn't that be like the UN passing a resolution telling Democrats to stop calling pResident Pissypants "Pissypants?" Israel is a nation-state and a member of the UN; Hezbollah isn't.

for his position.

He now depends on much broader Labour Party support, and of course on the votes of his Blackburn constituency.

He is now a powerful threat to the BLiar.

edit: Let's hope he does not suffer a sudden heart-attack as did Mr. Robin Cook.

21. The internet and satellite tv is showing people what's happening
no longer can people wage war, and just have a few lines show up on page F-6 a week later..

people are "taking it to the streeets" and the politicians and media are PISSED..

People who are being interviewed on tv are calling out the reporters asking them questions, and the politicians can no longer have days or weeks to "get their excuses coordinated"..
