ROME - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that the release of an Israeli soldier abducted in Gaza could be "imminent."

"There are ongoing efforts that lead us to believe in an imminent solution," Abbas said, speaking through a translator, after a meeting in Rome with Italian Premier Romano Prodi.

4. Abbas must be talking about the soldier captured by Hammas,
not the soldiers captured by Hezbollah. So this release would probably not affect the murder of Lebanon...

5. I was wondering the same thing...
Will it stop the violence, or has the conflict moved beyond its original scope?

I suspect the latter, unfortunately.

8. I hope he is released soon.
Hopefully, Hezbollah will follow and release it's two hostages, but I'm not too optimistic about that.
