Bush tries out new media strategy in Chicago ( it's not about politics)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060707/pl_nm/bush_dc_1

CHICAGO (Reuters) - President George W. Bush, seeking to improve his standing among Americans and bolster Republican chances in November elections, argues his causes in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as part of a new media strategy.

At Chicago's Museum of Science and Technology, Bush holds a midmorning news conference in which he will take questions from regulars in the White House press corps as well as Chicago media.

White House officials said Bush's Chicago stop, which included a dinner with Mayor Richard Daley and local leaders on Thursday night, was the first in a series of similar trips he would make around the country in coming months

White House officials denied a political motive in the new strategy but said Bush wanted a chance to take his case to Americans about his policies.

"These trips are good for the president, getting out of the (Washington) Beltway, talking to people about their lives, hearing their stories, being able to share ideas with local leaders. That's something that he likes to do, and he'll do more of it," said White House spokesman Tony Snow.

1. "White House officials denied a political motive"
That's what they said when he did exactly the same thing before the mid-terms.

"Talking to people about their lives"

Bullshit.

He will be answering scripted 'questions' from reporters.

I just turned it on and have heard him talking for five or six straight minutes about freedom and how we should bring it to every one because they want it and he knows it.

21. Unless they changed the name and I didn't know about it,
it's the Museum of Science and Industry, located not too far from the University of Chicago campus. Did they change the name?

The museum recently had a special exhibit of cadavers shot full of different colored dyes and preserved in some sort of polymere in different sorts of action poses. It sounded kind of weird, but my friends who went to check it out thought it was pretty cool, albeit a bit creepy.

My favorite exhibits when I went there on field trips as a kid were the echo chamber and the mine shaft. The echo chamber consisted of two pedestals located at either end of a rather dark, cavernous room. there were some sort of concave metal disks atop the pedestals. If one person whispered into the contraption just right, the person standing at the other end could hear him or her, without any sort of special amplification device. And the mine display had an old fashioned mine cart you'd get into and it would roll through a fake horizontal mine shaft while a mechanized voice would drone on and on about the wonders of coal. Obviously, this was long before I was environmentally or politically aware. It was the only moving exhibit you could actually ride in at the time.

17. "These trips are good for the president"--who gives a flying #$@*&?
as usual, it's ALL ABOUT HIM.
Hey, we really don't care what's "good for" *. When the %@#&$ is he going to do something good for the American People with no thought of profit, reward, publicity, attaboys, or any other gratification for himself?

On the other hand, everytime he goes out on these little speaking follies, his poll numbers drop accordingly. He proves repeatedly that he is without substance--intellectual, moral, or spiritual--so BRING IT ON!! Let the little dumb@$$ make an even bigger fool of himself.

that Shrub has decided to give a speech there. It seems that everywhere he gives a speech he works to destroy it.
