McCain Denounces Republicans' Spending
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Republicans intent on safeguarding power in Washington have drifted from the values of the Reagan presidency and ushered in an era of reckless spending and government growth that threatens to drive them from office, U.S. Sen. John McCain said in prepared remarks Friday.

``Why has our party, the party of small government, lately adopted the practices of our opponents who believe the bigger the government the better? I'm afraid it's because at times we value our incumbency more than our principles,'' the Arizona Republican said in a speech to be delivered at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

McCain went on to deride his party for the explosive growth in the practice of ``earmarking,'' in which House and Senate members steer federal spending to pet programs without review.

The number of earmarks tripled during a 10-year stretch of Republican control in Congress, ``not a record Ronald Reagan would have been proud of,'' McCain said.

1. But you still support that moran in the White House, don't you?
John, your moment in the sun has come and gone.

You blew it when you let them (your own party) dump all over you.

19. It would be great to see a list of McCain's votes for profligate
spending side by side with this current statement.
He is being groomed as the Republican who "stood up to Bush"
WE MUST SHOOT THAT IMAGE DOWN NOW.

4. What a phony
He made the biggest mistake of his life when he somehow decided that kissing Bush's ass would be a great way to get people to vote for him.

He sealed his own fate and I have no sympathy for him at all.

5. Ronald Reagan?
Spending went way up under him too. How long can the GOP keep fooling their followers with empty promises? Probably forever.

16. THAT'S IT! Show THAT picture in every Dem ad, if jm is the rep nom,
Edited on Sat Jun-24-06 12:58 AM by Skip Intro
Show it over and over again. Make that image synonymous with the name john mccain.

all we have to do to win in 08, and even now in 06, is to tie every last repuke running for office to bush, put them on the spot - "do you support the actions and policies of the leader of the party, george bush, and his administration? Please be specific.

I hope mccain wears that image like an albatross, and I hope it weighs so heavily on him that it drags him into the gutter with those he sought to worship and obey, at the greatest expense.

21. I agree, he lost his "Maverick" image with that photo
Just show it over and over and kiss McCain's future aspirations goodbye because even much of his libertarian Independent/Repub base detests Bush, so that shot will turn them off quickly.

8. ...but he still expects US to be in Iraq "ten, twenty years"
At a cost of how much per month ? McCain should be voted out of office by now. Arizona R's are a dubious breed of cat.

""When asked this week on CNN how long the U.S. military is likely to remain in Iraq, Senator John McCain replied "probably" 10 or 20 years. "That's not so bad," he said""

Gee John, it's too bad you're not in a position to do anything about runaway spending, emptying the Treasury, the deaths of thousands of people, and all that corruption. I mean, if you were, I dunno, a Senator or something. In the majority party. Then I suppose you could do something about it. But whaddyagonnado?

You fucking gasbag.

All you do is kiss ass when and where it suits you, while sucking up to the warmongers and religious freaks. You're the prototypical dirty politician through and through, and you've squandered all your credibility as a former POW.

This sorry sack of shit IS part of the problem he denounces. This nutcase goes along with anything and everything his fuehrer tells him to.

Stupid, babbling fool, McLame POS should just shut up.

``Why has our puke party, the party of small government, lately adopted the practices of our opponents who believe the bigger the government the better?

I got it. This has been the tactic all the repukes for awhile now. Blame and accuse others of what you're guilty of.

Soon, we will see presidunce POS* step forward and accuse the Democratic party of running up the .gov debt.

Assholes, all of them.
