Frist Pushes for Move on Estate Taxes
WASHINGTON -- Senate Republican leader Bill Frist asked House leaders for help reducing taxes on inherited estates, conceding that the GOP cannot eliminate them during this election year.

"I understand we are not going to get total repeal this Congress," Frist, R-Tenn., told reporters Friday.

Frist promised to hold a vote before July 4 if House GOP leaders pass a bill that changes a quirky law erasing the tax in 2010 and reviving it a year later. The schedule would put the tax cut, a favorite of many GOP voters, back on the agenda before an election with control of Congress at stake.

House GOP leaders are actively considering the request, a senior aide said.
.....
This year, $2 million of a person's estate, or $4 million of a couple's, is exempt from taxation. The rest can be taxed at rates as high as 46 percent. By 2009, the exemption will increase to $3.5 million per person, or $7 million per couple, and the top tax rate will drop to 45 percent.

Frist said that law is "just crazy" and said lawmakers need to make permanent changes to the tax.

2. "Just crazy"??
Compared to what? Many having no health coverage? No raise in minimum wage? People who can't pay rent on wages earned? Money being poured into a war while draining resources in every state in the country? I guess its all a matter of perspective, of whether you are a have or a have not.

4. Bill, guess what?
We don't give a shit about your grandkids' or your kids' wealth. We don't care about the crack ho' Nicole or her public sex brother or the Bushettes or any of Barbaraensis Horribilis's grandkids. Let 'em go to work.
Think how much better the world would have been had Prescott's wealth been taxed out of existence after his conviction for collaborating with the enemy and got out of his 15 year federal pen term...
Why George I would not have been able to have bought his way into Yale, definitely could not have affored Barbie...probably stayed in the Navy and be a retired Lt. Cdr. in Florida with his sixth wife now...no kids. Barbara Pierce would be an old maid with 37 cats, retired from the chocolate factory in the Bronx...

5. Where in the H-E-double hockey sticks
are the Dems on this?! Why aren't they making television ads based on this? Comparing those without Health Care who are working two jobs just to put gas in the car and never get to see their kids with the top 1% Frist and the Repugs are "fighting" for? Is the Dem Party THAT lame and slow that they can't seize an opportunity handed to them on a (pardon the pun) silver platter? With so many hurting at the pumps -- Repug AND Dem --, I can't imagine this not striking a nerve!

Grrrrrrrr ...

8. Damn, we need to propose our own tax cuts.
funded by taxing the hell out of the top couple % of the wealthy. Tax the crap out of capital gains and investment income. Let the poeple who EARN income take home more of their hard EARNED money. Make a package that can not be ammended out of existance and make the GOP vote against letting wage earners keep more of their money. Fuck the wealthy as their votes only total a few percent of the total.

10. Give it up Frist, you'll never win the primary and you don't even have
to be a professional video diagnoser like yourself to figure that one out.
