U.S. warns al Qaeda could attack soon
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/11/21/terror.warning/

<sni>
After an alert from intelligence officials Thursday evening, an advisory is to be sent out to state and local law enforcement agencies Friday regarding "al Qaeda's continued desire to plot or plan terrorist attacks with an emphasis on U.S. interests abroad," officials said.

Law enforcement officials said they understand there will be no change in the nation's color-coded threat level, which is at "yellow," signifying an elevated risk of terrorist attack.

A senior U.S. official told CNN that because of the recent attacks in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and increased "chatter" among potential terrorists, the warning "was inevitable." The official said there is particular concern about the remaining days of Ramadan, which will end around the world Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a new U.N. report identifies a shifting of al Qaeda's strategy toward "softer," nonmilitary targets, and warned the group was working toward a biological or chemical attack.

29. My thoughts exactly.
I do now believe another "attack" will occur here and whats left of the Constitution will be suspended. Maybe this weeks assault upon us by Congress was a show of unity and fidelity to our regime so that maybe they'll be allowed to keep their cozy positions of power. Not to worry though, we'll have Michael Jackson to "entertain" us through these dark and ominous times.

34. SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF THE OLD PEOPLE
Get them all to sleep under their beds at night.

There are a lot of old people who are frightened to go to the corner store--for fear Osoma will attack. These constant alerts are costly and irresponsible.

10. Bush family financial buddy Adolph Hitler put it this way

26. Goering: "Of course the people don't want war...
... Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship."

"...voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

I don't know if he learned that from Leo Strauss, or Strauss learned it from Goering;

"A political order can be stable only if it is united by an external threat, if no external threat exists, then one has to be manufactured."

3. I'm no expert on international terrorism...
...but it seems we would be well advised to focus our attention with greatest urgency on the problems in Israel and Palestine. Removing that thorn of Muslim discontent I believe would go a very long way toward preventing any further spread of this violence, whether perpetrated by Al-Qaeda or those who, acting independently, choose to adopt its logo.

12. Maybe even go back to 1948
And let the Arabs finish off the last of Israel like they wanted to do.

No thanks...Israel can never again let anyone try to complete the final solution. This thorn you speak of is embedded much deeper than any capitulation can satisfy.

31. No...
...we have to allow Israel to impose their Final Solution on the occupants of the West Bank and Gaza. Of course, this is already well on its way.

He's in a catch-22...he needs to stage another 9-11, but if he does, then it proves that his war against terrorism is a failure!

7. I will give 10000 to 1 odds that Rove & Co. are trying to put together a
"just barely averted major attack", thwarted only by the brave cunning of W. Bunnypants on his big white steed.

Oh, I forgot, he's afraid of horses.

Well, they probably have a plan B. And C. etc.

20. "they" are the criminals who have seized control of America...
and in case you haven't noticed, the Dept of Homeland Security is an arm of the same apparatus.

So notifying them would be rather pointless.

17. Good point.
It must feel awfully frustrating to have such a powerful media tool, and not be able to use it more than once.

I wonder if he has the brain capacity to figure that out. If they did decide to do it anyway, how could they spin it into something different?

9. Blair and bushit are happier than pigs in shit
These terrorist attacks arrived right on schedule. This way they had the appearance of vindication for their absurd policies of conquest instead of having to rationalize their numerous frauds on the public.

23. What they say and what suits their agenda
...are two entirely different matters. The spectre of international terrorism is a welcome relief from the huge policy failure in Iraq.

In fact, it serves to confuse the matter in the obscurantist fog in which they thrive. What goes on in Iraq has nothing to do with international terrorism.

25. We all expect Al Qaeda to help Bush win a second term! But I can't figure
out why Al Qaeda helps the Republican Party? Is there some kind of connection there?

In the late 80s, Pakistan's then head of state, Benazir Bhutto, told the first President George Bush, you are creating a Frankenstein. But the warnings never quite filtered down to the cops and G-men on the streets of New York.
