FOX News Poll: Dems Hold Double-Digit Lead in Congressional Vote
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,199678,00.html

By Dana Blanton

NEW YORK — If the Congressional elections were held today, voters say they would back the Democratic candidate over the Republican by 46 percent to 33 percent. Furthermore, if Democrats win control of Congress, most voters say it would make a difference to their life, according to the latest FOX News national registered voter poll.

Opinion Dynamics Corporation conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from June 13 to June 14. The poll has a 3-point error margin.

If the election were today, not surprisingly most Democrats (89 percent) say they would vote for their party’s candidate, as do most Republicans (85 percent). Independents, the voting group that politicos and pundits like to watch, are twice as likely to give their support to the Democrat (31 percent) as the Republican (15 percent).

Over half of independents (55 percent) say they are undecided, more than double the number of undecided voters overall (20 percent).

1. These numbers look great but do they translate to voting
incumbents out? Getting Dems energized and to the polls will decide 2006.

15. Every Election 2k++ We Led in the Polls & Every Election We've Lost Seats
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 12:57 AM by AndyTiedye
I have NO faith in our electoral system.

I'll still vote -- at least make them go to the trouble of stealing it,
and I've contributed to the candidtates who put up the IMPEACH BUSH billboards
because those are worth it regardless of the candidates' chances, and I donate
to voteraction.org so they can sue to stop or at least delay the installation
of more Diebold Republican Electing Machinez.

8. Now this is interesting: compare the two headlines.
This one, posted here...

"FOX News Poll: Dems Hold Double-Digit Lead in Congressional Vote"

...and this other, just posted at DU also:

---------------------------

Is the Cheshire cat grinning because he knows how successful the Diebold/ES&S coup has been? I mean, Bushite corporations tabulating all the votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, and virtually no audit/recount controls, on extremely insecure, hackable voting systems all over the country, even in California. And torture memo writer Alberto Gonzales bullying New York and Pennsylvania to join the junta voting system. And Ion Sancho bullied and threatened in Florida, by Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia, in a truly brilliant corporate conspiracy. And Kevin Shelley gotten rid of in California. And the stupid American people and their corrupt so-called "opposition" party not even noticing; raising barely a hair objection. It's just too beautiful! So much good news, all over the country, as non-transparent, unverifiable vote counting is installed everywhere--touch of the button vote rigging, or nearly so. A cat doesn't even have to travel or shovel out cash anymore. He can just sit back and realize dreams of infinite power, and grin and grin and grin...

11. Well, Seriousstan has a point about crediting polls, but Fox is not alone
(by any means) in finding very low Bush and Repug numbers. It's true across the board. Another possibility--not to be dismissed--is that the low poll numbers are part one of the miraculous Bushite comeback narrative--hate gays, hate Mexicans, kill more Arabs--for November, and that the war profiteering corporate news monopolies are conspiring with that narrative. Except that the very low numbers have been registering for over a year in independent as well as corporate news monopoly polls. So I think the polls are real. (And they certainly confirm my read on the American people--a more intuitive thing.)

So, what to make of our traitorous, not even close to representing the will of the people, Congress? I think it's simply that they know that the will of the people doesn't matter a fig any more. They are almost ALL beholden to Diebold and ES&S for their power, and not to us. It's the likely reason for the Dem muckymucks' silence on the very close Bushite ties of these corporations, with their 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code vote tabulation. I mean, what else could explain their insane silence on this outrageous non-transparency and Bushite control of the vote counting? Some are just plain corrupt, I imagine. But probably most are scared. If WE can't trust the vote counts, neither can they. How do they know what's going on? Nobody does. It's all secret now.

16. Remember that the poll is national, but each race stands alone
There is a lot of "throw the bums out - except for MY bum". These polls, while expressing overall discontent with congress, don't predict what will happen in any particular race.

The key is determining precisely where sentiment has the potential to tip a race.

17. Well, it's true that conditions are different in each race, but with
Bush numbers being under 30% for most of this year, and sinking like the Titanic to that point--since the DAY of his inauguration!--and Congress even lower, Democrats and progressives should blow Bush away in these elections. And in a normal political era, they would. There would be no question about it.

We are NOT living in a normal political era. Things are highly abnormal--as this country sinks toward fascism. And one of the things that is NOT normal is Bushite corporate control over the vote tabulation, with "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code and virtually no audit/recount controls. Not since Stalinist Russia has there been such a non-transparent election system. And the collusion of the war profiteering corporate news monopolies--their pre-writing the Bush and war narratives--and their monopolistic and conspiratorial power, are unprecedented.

These overarching and dreadful realities WILL affect every race. What will "tip" individual races is Diebold and ES&S secret vote tabulation programs, not "sentiment." Forget sentiment. Pay attention to the mechansim of power: secret control over vote counting. Big turnout COULD overwhelm the machines, but we're going in with, I think, about a 5% to 10% "thumb on the scales" against us.

18. GOP Strategy: Liberals are winning in polls gets the hard core to vote

I figure there's some truth to it but putting it on will help ensure the hard core voters who never swing the other way will see it and be sure to go out and vote.
