From a release to RAW STORY.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) issued the following statement today in response to remarks made by right-wing pundit and author Ann Coulter.

“Ms. Coulter’s shameless attack on the victims of the worst act of terrorism in American history can only engender disgust at her tasteless statements when she asserts that their husbands’ deaths bring them joy. Her bookselling antics and accompanying vulgarity deserve our deepest contempt.

Her foul remarks trivialize the deaths of every single person who died that terrible day, including the lives of those brave police officers and firefighters who ran into those burning buildings,” said Senator Lautenberg.

The more she flaps that foul mouth of her's ... the more the people in this country will "get" what monsters she represents ...

9. We can only hope
that happens. But the extreme right will undoubtedly keep her elevated on some sort of pedestal for the simple reason she appeals to their more salacious side.

and we need to use it on her whenever the subject comes up.

Yes, she is vulgar.

5. She is simply a prime example of "Today's Republican".
Broad-brush? Yes!
I see less and less difference between her and other repukes as time goes by.
She just says it while others may bite their tongues.

Hey Repukes, your Spokesmodel Freak of Nature is a glowing endorsement of your party!

She's alllllll yours!

28. Yes yes yes
Democrats need to make Coulter the voice of the republican party.

Every time a dem appears on one of the "news" shout fests he/she should ignore whatever the republican du jour is saying and address responses to Coulter. Treat her like she is the voice of the republican party.

The republicans have been doing it to us for years and let's face it, it has worked for them. No matter what we say, they talk about what some fringe leftist says and act like it's our party line.

If we do this a couple of things will happen:

* People will associate the republican party with ugly hatemongering
* Republicans will be rocked back on their heels, constantly trying to defend the indefensible

They frame our message in the media. We can frame theirs.

29. Only slightly disagree
Everytime someone gets in front of MSM no matter what the story is make media the story and thier RW bias. When pressed then lay down the fact MSM contiues to put inappropiate hate (incert vulger ""'s of the creature) that dems have been complaining on how inapropriate it is to continually incert hate language in the discussion but MSM refuses and keeps her in a steady diet.

32. have ya visited the rush limbaugh site?
Coulter is the republican poster girl. And the crap that spews out of her mouth is merely a reflection of the far right. They will say that anyone disgusted by this latest rant of hers can't take a joke or is too sensitive and blow off any criticism.

My right wing brother called me recently as I drove to work. We had a ten minute conversation where he directed me to some 'hilarious' t-shirts on limbaugh's site which read something like 'my mullah went to gitmo and all I got was this dumb t-shirt.' He also managed to point out that the Iraq war has been a great success since the US removed Saddam and installed a friendly government so we can leave victorious anytime now, that treehuggers are stopping us from drilling in alaska, that Iran is sending insurgents into Iraq and deserves to be bombed and the Haditha massacre is liberal media hogwash. Honestly, I was shell shocked and relieved to reach my destination so I could end the conversation. If spokespeople like Coulter say the stuff they do, their followers are even scarier. My bro is the perfect example of the type of person who believes all that faux news has to say. I'm sure he will just find Ann Coulter's comments to be amusing and anyone's indignation a laugh riot. It's best not to respond at all. The world has gone mad, and as economic hardship creeps up it will only get crazier. I'd love to think this is the last we'd hear of Coulter, but have my doubts. You're right, the Repubs can her. Her commentary is shameful. And it only encourages worse.

May we all survive to see more reasonable and peaceful times.

34. You are absolutely right & I really feel for you w/your brother situation.
First, you are right on the money that these RW wackos are immune to shame & criticism - they thrive on highly nasty confrontations. How does one overcome such depravity? I never cease to find it shocking and I'm already pretty jaded about the RW. They make up the psychotic % of our population that we have to classify as "lost causes to humanity", but they seem to get all kinds of media deference, which then makes otherwise normal people desensitized to violent thinking. Which brings me to your brother....

First of all, he is supremely lucky that you have anything to do with him whatsoever. I have some friends & family that are RW sympathizers (not to the level of your brother) and I am less and less tolerant of their ignorance and callousness - and they aren't even that bad! I don't know where you find your patience. I'm curious....why do you think he wants to engage you on such inflammatory topics?? Is he trying to draw you into an argument or do you think he secretly values your perspective? Just wondering what you think of his motives. The RWers in my life tend to avoid the topics, but occasionally throw something out there and I'm wondering if they want to genuinely discuss it, or are just ignorant (and I should enlighten them), or should I just give up and ignore them all together?

In any case, these traveling RW freak shows aren't going away anytime soon. Their vitriol seems contagious and makes spewing invective and hate seem acceptable - that worries me enormously.

Desensitizing people to violence, verbal or otherwise, while debasing humans - whether liberals or Iraqis - leads to things like Timothy McVeigh at home and Haditha abroad.

the love fest over at FR.

"Saw it on Hannity and Colmes. God how I wish the GOP in Congress had her spine!!"

"I just bought "Godless" yesterday. I've only gotten through the first chapter, but so far it is great. No one can rip apart the hipocracy of liberals better than Ann Coulter."

and my favorite:
"But we know who is the smartest and prettiest with the fastiest wit, the best with a gun and who we would rather have lunch with, lolololol."

All together now: EEEWWWWWW!!!

12. Like most
ignorant bullies with no morals and an inflated sense of their own Rightness, the only thing these comments in response to what she said or wrote or whatever do for her is make her very, very happy. You see, like most adult children with supremely f*cked up childhoods, she's absolutely STARVED for attention. And that's what the good Senators are giving her ... lots and lots of attention. Can you imagine the excitement she feels having a Senator tell her to go to H-E-double hockey sticks?!?! Why, she must be very, very important! :eyes:

33. Really, 'sane' republicans have never had to take ownership of Ann,
not to mention the never ending stream of bullshit she spews. This latest outrage may force them to acknowledge her as one of their own, if only to make a public denunciation. I'm not hopeful though, they will just keep quite 'till it blows over, maybe snicker to themselves. After all pushing people's buttons and causing outrage is her job, it fuels the insanity of the republican base and pisses off liberals, and she's good at it.
