Bogus footman: I could have assassinated the Queen | Sydney Morning Herald
Bogus footman: I could have assassinated the Queen
November 19, 2003 - 2:53PM

A serious breach of royal security was exposed today with revelations a newspaper reporter posed undercover for two months as a Buckingham Palace footman.

Ryan Parry, a reporter for the Daily Mirror, used bogus references to get a job while the police and royal staff were preparing for the visit of US President George Bush.

Parry was due to serve breakfast to Bush's top aides this morning, the newspaper said.

The investigation covered 15 pages in today's edition of the Daily Mirror and raises questions over royal security.

More at the Sydney Morning Herald

I checked the Mirror's site, and I didn't see ANYTHING on this yet. Are there two Newspapers by the name Mirror?

1. Just seen this on TV news
only caught a few seconds of it.

All it does is justify Adolf's over-the-top security measure's.

BTW, the Queen is a tight arsed bint. She was only paying the footman 11K pounds per year. In London that's a pittance.

3. A bogus footman and a bogus president all in one week!
What's the Queen to do?

Perhaps she should administer lie detector tests to all of her subjects (especially household staff) and to 'visiting dignitaries', eh?

Excerpt:

A SHOCKING royal security scandal has been exposed by a Mirror reporter working secretly as a footman.

Ryan Parry infiltrated the heart of Buckingham Palace for two months as police and senior staff prepared for the state visit of George Bush.

Parry, who used bogus references to get the job, was still in the Palace lastnight as Mr Bush arrived. He watched unchallenged as the president and his wife Laura were met by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in the Palace garden at around 8pm.

ON EDIT: Well...! Even the BBC has picked up the story:

8. He Quit Tuesday
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 09:38 AM by Don_G
Think about it for a minute. An investagative reporter had access to Dimbo's room at Buckingham Palace for two months and quit upon his arrival?

Just how crazy did Dimbo and his security detail get looking for bugs?

Can't afford to have the truth getting out, can we?

10. He quit because the point had been made, and he hadn't been found out
had he actually been there when Bush got there, and then told the story, he may have been liable for something more, or might not had the freedom to speak as freely- just guessing. England still has one or two strange journalism laws, according to Greg Palast.

9. And there is a good chance that ...
terrorist groups are infiltrating numerous US (and other Govts) agencies for the same opportunity. Unfortunately AWOL will never be subject to these threats.

I fear that the infiltration is happening now, for a spectacular event in the future (undoubtedly under a Democratic President). Is the current adminstration setting up America for the next "Kennedy" President ? Count on it.

Cheers
Drifter
