Gore Revs Up Campaign - on Global Warming
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/18/ap/politics/mainD8H2M9H07.shtml

(AP) Al Gore has a major campaign under way - to change policies on global warming.

The 2000 Democratic presidential nominee has hired longtime political associate Roy Neel to aid in his effort to raise awareness about global warming, a problem Gore calls "a planetary emergency."

Gore's movie and book about the issue, both called "An Inconvenient Truth," are set for widespread release in May.

"He's taking an increasingly high-profile role in working on the climate change issue," Gore spokesman Michael Feldman said.

1. At the bar tonight.....I asked a couple people when Earth Day is
*blank* stares.
Earth day?

I figured that most kids these days may be more concerned with survival and (with luck) coming out ahead for the week.
I felt sad that we've lost concern for the planet to concentrate on getting by day-to-day.

Or....maybe people care more today about themselves than they do Mother Earth.
I hope the former.

2. Need
If any of Al Gore's friends or advisors read this, tell him that the country needs him to run for president. Now is the time. He is the perfect person for this crucial period, after so many years of the bush/cheney/rove cabal rule. Lots of work to be done, lots of repairing to do. His experience and knowledge is needed badly.
Run, Al. We need you.

4. It's really f*cked up that he is needed to clean up
sh!t that he should have been in place to lead us away from in the first place. If he wins his greatness will be amplified if he can bring us back from the brink of chimperial destruction.

5. The new Vanity Fair is called "The Green Issue."
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 05:06 AM by fudge stripe cookays
I picked it up yesterday. It has some good information about Gore and his environmental concerns, and how he was trumpeting this issue years ago. And made sure to mention how Smirk poked fun at him during the debates. Bet he's not smirking so much anymore since New Orleans. Ignorant, selfish prick.

The issue also has lots of info about George Clooney, Julia Roberts, RFK jr, and other celebrities and what they're doing to help the environment.

Made me like Clooney even more after seeing his little 2-seater, no emission car, the Tango.

He said that you can't make a movie about oil and politics and corruption (Syriana) and just talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk too.

The editor bashes Bush right in the front, telling everyone that we have never had a president so hostile to the environment, and throughout the magazine has scathing articles about Scotty-Potty and the rest of the crime family.

6. F.Y.I. we've got Gore's Vanity Fair article online

"The Moment of Truth" by Al Gore

(Vanity Fair) - Clichés are, by definition, over used. But here is a rare exception - a certifiable cliché that warrants more exposure, because it carries meaning deeply relevant to the biggest challenge our civilization has ever confronted.

The Chinese expression for "crisis" consists of two characters: 危機. The first is a symbol for "danger"; the second is a symbol for "opportunity."

The rapid accumulation of global-warming pollution in the Earth's atmosphere is now confronting human civilization with a crisis like no other we have ever encountered. This climate crisis is, indeed, extremely dangerous, but it also presents unprecedented opportunities.

Before we can get to the opportunities, however, it is crucial to define the danger, and to discuss how it is that we in the United States seem to be having such difficulty perceiving that danger.
