Afghan city hit by double bombing

9 April 2006

At least 11 people have been injured in two bomb attacks in the city of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.

The first bomb targeted Afghan army trucks passing through the city centre.

The second device, hidden nearby and detonated minutes later, targeted soldiers and civilians who had gathered at the scene of the first blast.

The bombing marks the third time in as many days that insurgents have attacked Afghan government forces or the Nato-led soldiers working with them.
