(Rep.) Weldon returns from Iraq
WASHINGTON — Rep. Dave Weldon returned from Iraq this week, determined as ever to ensure America follows through on its mission to create a stable government after removing Saddam Hussein from power.

The Melbourne Republican said he is convinced the former Iraqi president stored enormous caches of weapons around the country to mount an insurgency against the occupation forces.

"If we lose our will to fight and leave, they will unearth all of this and seize power again," Weldon said Thursday. "It would be a tremendous human tragedy if that were to happen again."

Weldon predicted American withdrawal would create a "blood bath," where Saddam's loyalists would kill those Iraqis who cooperated with the occupiers.

...

What he found was a frustrated force — especially in Baghdad — because soldiers had no idea about their rotation schedules. Sanchez told him the 100,000 troops would be rotated out of Iraq over the next three to six months.

...

The congressional delegation — which wore bullet-proof vests and were guarded by armored Humvees on its travels — spent its nights in Amman, Jordan.

1. COWARD--- He should have met the flower throwing Iraqis for face to face
Discussions. A lot of these RePuke HERO's are going there for photo Ops with the troops.

He's now back to lick the Chimp's hand and scrape at Cheney's foot.

2. Congressional Delegation wore bullet -proof vests? Spent night in Jordan?
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 01:30 PM by KoKo01
Wasn't it just two weeks ago when the "Iraq is Peaceful and News Media is only presenting the Dark Side," was being touted by Rummy/Condi and assorted others? Didn't I hear one of the Repug's who had just returned saying the "flower markets are open, and the children are back in school and vendors are selling their wares and flourishing?"

So, now we find that it's so dangerous that the latest delegation has to stay in Jordan?

The media is still in lockdown, though because we are "back into combat/war mode in Iraq, therefore the "code of silence" must be observed so as not to give "information which might aid the enemy in a time of battle."

5. who was it that said
that Iraq was safer than NYC?

Does everyone in NYC have to wear a bullet-proof vest and sleep in a different state?

7. He is probably right about the "Blood Bath"
However, he is probably wrong about the US creating a stable government. I don't think we will be hearing about a "Free and Democratic Iraq" anymore.

Has Bush made a single claim, other than doing the tax cut and starting this war, that has actually come to pass?

8. There will be a bloodbath -- the only question is sooner or later
The US will end up backing the Ba'ath against the Shia, eventually installing a Saddam clone in whatever chunk of Iraq they mange to win.
