What Did Bush Know Before 9/11 Attacks?
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/1114-08.htm

WASHINGTON—In capital shorthand, they are known as PDBs, and they may hold
the key to one of the great unanswered questions of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist
attacks.

Did U.S. President George W. Bush receive — and ignore
— advance warning of a plan by Al Qaeda to hijack
passenger planes and fly them into buildings in the United
States?

A commission studying the causes of America's worst
terrorist attack is closer to finding that answer today, but
families of the victims and at least one member of the
10-person tribunal say they aren't close enough.

Tim Roemer, a panel member who was also denied White
House documentation when he sat on a congressional
committee studying 9/11, says more hurdles put up this
week by Bush may mean the world will never really know
what the president knew.

2. The world will certainly never know...
if the Bushies have their way about it... and they will continue to have their way as long as we have a complicit media and an aggressively ignorant populace. It really is a shame.

6. Yeah but at least some on the investigation panel are making noise
I saw Max Cleeland on CNN last night making a very persuasive case that the panel must have full access to everything. And I may have just been hearing what I wanted to hear, but it seemed to me that he was strongly suggesting a possibly LIHOP scenario.

3. Regime control in action
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 12:31 PM by Angel_O_Peace
Critics say Bush has already imposed an unrealistic deadline of May 27 on the commission because he wants the final report to be delivered well in advance of the final sprint to the November, 2004, election.

I hope the commission delays and pushes past that deadline. The Bush Regime needs to be exposed as much as possible before November 2004.

5. This is LIHOP, spelled out
Man I really hope this thing catches on in the press. The Bush administration knew 9/11 was going to happen and did nothing to stop it. Heck, they may have even aided in making it happen (with NORAD, quelled investigations, etc.)

7. The Commission is NOT
going to get the info they want - they are going to accept an edited version? That is the secret deal they brokered? what happened to the big mouth talk about supoena power to get the info? are the Repukes on the committee caving already? will they accept some watered down version that the bushies want to give them, and say, oh, ok, fine with us. Nothing here, move on.

The bushies knew and did nothing and they will get away with it like everything else they do - it's such a pitiful state of affairs.

8. Over $70m to look into Clinton's pants
and nothing spent to see what Bush is hiding behind his back. If there were to be a grassroots group that was actually raising money to hire an independent counsel for investigation, I would donate gladly.

9. At best (for W) - He knew that something was going to happen
soon, and that this would be just the push to get his oil grab war going on (and also to get the "you can't criticise a wartime pResident" jones).

The scale and the details are where he can claim the ignorance. He didn't know "how big" or that they were actually going to fly planes into the WTC & Pentagon.

Probably was thinking that they could push a couple of hijackings as enough to start a never-ending "war on terrorism". Paid off beyond his wildest dreams.

10. Even if he didn't know, his people knew and the buck stops somewhere
It's like the iran/contra scandal. Everybody always defends Reagan by saying he didn't know(he had alzheimers). Well, he was the President and he appointed McFarland, North, and all the other genius' who thought it would be good to sell arms to terrorists and use the proceeds to fund nun-murdering drug lords against their communist government.
If Condi knew about the warnings, and she admitted to such at one point, then Bush is ultimately responsible because he appointed her. Even if he didn't know, he's responsible-Clinton would never have ignored warnings from Israel, Russia, Egypt, UK, etc. When all these countries' intelligence is saying something is going to happen, you listen. I can't wait for Michael Moore's movie on the subject to be released.

11. Excellent point made by Roemer!
This report could have proved there was no smoking gun on Chimp - he was not properly warned of the imminent threat - or it could prove that our intelligence failed to detect this real threat - again letting Chimp off the hook and helping him bigtime politically - but it obviously must NOT prove either one because he refuses to release the evidence!

12. Bush Knew
The public will never accept it, but why did he go on a month long vacation at the ranch after less than a year in office?

16. I have lost all faith that there will ever be a true investigation.
This has been a set-up from the start. The back and forth, back and forth, all an effing show!

Neither side is officially releasing the terms of the compromise but Roemer says the access will be restricted to a handful of commission members and the documents will be truncated.

"Some of us will see portions of the briefs, a couple of paragraphs which lack context and won't tell you whether the information jumps out at you," he said in an interview.

Some of the 10 members, likely including Roemer, will not actually see anything under the deal. Only four can see PDBs, and then only portions the White House deems relevant — and even then, the members' comments about the top-secret briefings will be vetted by the White House.
