Berlusconi heads to Bush's ranch, expecting more love in Texas than Europe
ROME (AP)

After the bruising disputes over Iraq, Europe wants to make up with America, and the aspiring peacemaker is Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, a conservative pal of President Bush.

But in Europe, the billionaire businessman often elicits suspicion, particularly in the media.

They cite his bribery trial, the accusations of conflict-of-interest for failing to abandon his vast media empire while in government, and an ugly spat with Germany this month when he compared a German lawmaker to a Nazi concentration camp guard. Also, Berlusconi split with France and Germany in his support for the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

All this makes some Europeans uneasy about Berlusconi's role as European Union president, a rotating position he took up with Italy's turn starting this month. Yet Berlusconi and Bush have much in common, from sports-team ownership, to involvement in the business world, to occasional verbal slip-ups.

Berlusconi's trip to the president's Texas ranch Sunday and Monday will earn him the rare distinction of having visited Bush both there and at Camp David. Above all, they are buddies a fact the Italian government argues makes Berlusconi precisely the man to suture the wounds. ---

Nattering nabob of negativism! How can you say that, when its been Berlusconi's dream (since childhood) to clear brush from a ranch in Texas during the summer?

2. it's interesting to see who goes to the ranch and who does not

I'd be afraid to eat or drink there, and subliminal brainwashing coming from the bed pillow. Or maybe smirk and Berl are peas in a pod.

5. His father did this also. They are such loved people they think it
is a big deal to bring people to their home. That personal thing. Course in DC weather to stop off on the coast of Maine is very nice but to go to 100 degree Texes is a little different. Maybe it is the people he hates he takes there. He can not even get that right, that people do not like to go to an oven in Summer.

7. No jokes about the Pig Farm, please. This is important
Chimpy has to staighten Berlusconi out about the Nazis.

You see, the Italian premier is unaware (like most Americans), that George AWOL Bush's grandfather, Prescott, was a major funding conduit for the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany prior to, and at the start of, WWII.

That's a fact. Just google the bejeepers out of it, and the scales shall fall from thine eyes.

This will give the boys some privacy to talk over the "real world."

to send to Iraq? None? And this merits a vacation at the pig farm?

And I'm sure, that he own a US company to contribute for the Bush campaign.

Concerning the original Post: Schulz isn't a "German lawmaker", but a European Lawmaker, he is a member of the European parliament.

If you want a reason to puke: read this Freeper Article about Berlusconi:
