Nebraska's deployment set to peak

BY TIM ELFRINK

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Nearly three years after the war began, there soon will be more Nebraska National Guard soldiers in Iraq than ever before.

About 300 Nebraska Army National Guard troops are scheduled to depart today from Camp Shelby, Miss., for Iraq, joining nearly 350 other Nebraska guardsmen already serving there.

1. Nebraska should be the highest
The redneck bastards voted for the little spoiled brat by a bigger margin than just about every other state. Let them fight in their president's war.

5. Yeah, but some of us are bluenecks...
We're hiding mostly in eastern enclaves of Omaha and western Lincoln. The rest of the state, especially in open country is red.

F9/11 was packed on opening night and people got up and clapped. I'm personally responsible for unintentionally chasing away fellow veterans on a military reunion blog site for speaking my mind on this war.

I asked 5-6 registered repubs who they were voting for -they said Kerry. --I was surprized when the numbers came out... Don't understand it. Yes, this is ES&S country.

3. they won't be alone....
{AP) Camp Shelby, Miss. Thousands of relatives and friends joined congressional delegates and other officials at a Mississippi military base on Wednesday to spend time with nearly 4,100 soldiers from across the country who are deploying to Iraq.

The deployment of the 2,600 Minnesota soldiers in the 1/34th Brigade Combat Team will be the largest contingent of that state's National Guard troops to see combat since World War II.

The rest of the brigade includes soldiers from Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey and others from across the country.
