Consultant on GOP ads agrees 'condom' not in Pritt bill
FAYETTEVILLE — From the witness stand in Fayette County Circuit Court Wednesday, the man who wrote political ads that became the centerpiece of a libel suit testified that the word “condom” does not appear in legislation Charlotte Pritt sponsored in the Legislature.

<snip>

Welch testified he based each of the ads he wrote on Pritt’s legislative record. Pritt and former state Sen. Robert Holliday, D-Fayette, sponsored a bill to teach human growth and development at the appropriate levels to students from kindergarten to grade 12. Although the bill never made it out of committee, Welch used the legislation and wrote that Pritt wanted to teach first graders how to use condoms.

“The word ‘condom’ is not in it ,” Welch said under cross examination, “But the word ‘contraception’ is.”

Welch said he could infer “condom” from the word “contraception.”

7. Republican Consultant admits he lied about Charlotte Pritt in testimony.
http://wvgazette.com/section/News/Other%20News/2006030821?pt=0

FAYETTEVILLE — From the witness stand in Fayette County Circuit Court Wednesday, the man who wrote political ads that became the centerpiece of a libel suit testified that the word “condom” does not appear in legislation Charlotte Pritt sponsored in the Legislature.

Consultant David Welch wrote a series of radio and television ads that ran in the final days of the gubernatorial race between Pritt and former Republican Gov. Cecil Underwood.

Welch said he worked for two political organizations named in Pritt’s libel suit: the West Virginia State Victory Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

8. EXCELLENT!!!!
Charlotte, girl, I hope you will be victorious and become THE EXAMPLE for those who fear fighting these hateful, lying assholes!!!!

I have had enough of the "free speech" assertions by these barbaric assholes. "Free speech" does not include LIES, FRAUD, ABUSE or HATE. There are limits.

It's time for those limits to be enforced.

18. Outstanding! Too bad there isn't a video of his testimony for public
appreciation! This man is LOW. The Republican Party has absolutely no standards they set for themselves, yet they insist loudly, non-stop, they are the "moral," "patriotic" party.

Why is it they have such a horrendous record of slander, disinformation, and filthy LIES?

I had to register so I could read the rest of this article. This was an interesting snippet:
The ads were financed through a line of credit from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. That committee and the West Virginia State Victory Committee have the same officers and address in Washington, D.C.

Pritt’s lawyers could not find a West Virginian who donated to the West Virginia Victory Fund.

Craig Engle, who was the Washington-based lawyer for the Senatorial Committee at the time the ads were aired, testified the money for the ads came from fundraising all over the country.
(snip)
Dirty, dirty guys, Republicans.

Best wishes to Charlott Pritt, and gratitude that she put herself on the line and went after this dishonest bully.
