U.S. congressmen press Iran sanctions bill

WASHINGTON, March 8 (Reuters) - Key U.S. congressmen on Wednesday said they would push forward with legislation imposing mandatory sanctions on foreign firms working in Iran, despite administration concerns the bill could split the international coalition against Iran's nuclear programs.

As the United States and its allies prepared to take Iran's case to the U.N. Security Council -- which could eventually consider penalties on Tehran -- some lawmakers complained that Washington needs to be more aggressive in confronting the "threat" posed by Iran's pursuit of nuclear technology.

Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns told the U.S. House of Representatives International Relations Committee the Security Council would begin debate on Iran next Monday and Tuesday and gradually escalate pressure if Tehran refused to halt uranium enrichment activities.

But Rep. Thomas Lantos of California, the panel's senior Democrat, insisted "Iran's quest for nuclear arms requires us to do two things: squeeze Iran's economy as much as possible and do so without delay."

These politicians always claim that "regular Americans" don't understand today's global economy - then they turn around and do stuff that actually proves that they don't

8. I'm sure I've seen this film before
Isn't this the one where the government decides an ME country is hiding bad things, so they all vote to go in and get the bad things, but after bombing the place to hell and killing untold numbers of civilians no bad things are found, and then it turns out it was all government lies but everybody just shrugs and says, "Oh well, since we're here let's give them democracy"?

I hate reruns.

9. Why? There was a compromise that was obliterated by Condi
Condi strong-armed, somehow, the Russians into pulling back that two-year compromise.

These bastards WANT a freakin' war!

They WANT oil to top $100/bbl!

The controlling cabal needs to wring as much $$$ from our hands as they can before the next Great Depression hits. Then they'll all take off to some foreign land and live in luxuriant seclusion while we stand in soup lines.

10. ***PETITION TO SIGN: NO WAR WITH IRAN ***
Hello,

For the past year, the growing tensions mounting between the US, Israel, and Iran are reaching a point where military action against Iran is w/in months of becoming reality. The repercussions are terrifying as such military action could involve countries such as China and Russia as they share massive energy/economic interests w/ Iran. The most likely scenario we would face would be the collapse of the US economy as the combination of a massive rise in oil prices and a run on the US dollar would surely be the weapon many countries would use to fight back against a preemptive US or Israeli strike.

For a collection of articles and resources on this subject you can visit this link: http://reseaudesign.com/research/iran/iran_summery.html

I'm starting up a petition which I will be sending out to as many members of Congress as possible. I'm asking for help to get this signed by as many people, possible in the next month. Send it to as many people you can.

Also, here is another petition you can sign from another group:

Thanks for your time
