Cheney issues challenge to Iraq war critics

WASHINGTON Vice President Cheney is again challenging the Bush administration's critics of the war in Iraq.

The vice president told an American Legion conference today that those who are against the war should make it known if they think the U-S should "break our word and abandon our Iraqi allies."

He also told the conference that the U-S must treat Iraq as the "central front on the war on terror."

Cheney says that is essential because terrorist leaders like Osama bin Laden consider the country to be just that.

On the other hand, the ones who've always been on the CIA payroll probably do not. Regardless of whether we're justified in stiffing them, we hardly have the right to make the whole Iraqi nation pay the price for assurances we gave to people who sold their country out for money.

32. Mr. 18% is worried about "our" credibility?
Wasn't he the fella terrorizing the US with talk about Iraq attacking us with a nuclear weapon? Wasn't he the fella in 2004 in Ohio warning the American people that if we didn't "re-elect" his lying ass we'd be attacked by nuclear weapons? Wasn't he the one harboring all those neocon liars for war, the office that outed an agent?

Wasn't he the fella telling us we'd be greeted as liberators and telling us that the problem was just a few dead-enders who were turning the corner?

WASN'T HE THE FELLA THAT OWNED THE COMPANY THAT'S PROFITED SO HANDSOMELY OFF THIS WAR?

Isn't he the guy whose idea of an ally is CHALABI?

Doesn't he belong to the administration that has not been held accountable for a single lie they told?

Accountability anyone?

44. They're not our allies, and our reputation is already in the shitter.
Iraq is an occupied nation, temporarily subdued as the result of an offensive war for reasons which have yet to be truthfully elucidated. Iraq's position as an "ally" holds as much water as the idea that Vichy France was an "ally" of the fucking Nazis.

As far as "our word" goes, here's a hair's width cross-section of what the entire rest of the goddamn world knows better than we Americans do. We are now, sadly, a lying, cheating, stealing nation which won't stop at armed conflict to get what we want.

45. Response and Counter-Challenge
I have so much to say I can't stand it.

First, Cheney is using his speech to frame the Anti-War movement.

By stating his 'challenge' as he has, he has implied:

1. Anti-war people want to abandon Iraqis. (Wrong - they want to remove the military. That's not abandonment.)
2. Anti-war people want to "break our word". Well, by "our word", Cheney means Bush* and Chaney's word, not America's word. We've never told Iraq that we are there forever, and we will not be. The question is not 'whether' to withdraw, but 'when' and 'how' to do so.
3. Anti-war people don't support our Iraqi Allies. Iraq is not an Ally. They are a territorial interest of the US which belonged to us just a few short months ago. Iraq has very limited resources, and infant government in peril, civil unrest bordering on war, obviously no weapons of mass destruction...and yet, Cheney labels them an "ally", supposedly in his War on Terror.

So, Chaney's challenge is disingenuous at best. A serious "challenge" would ask something like, "What would you do?" or "How would you proceed?" A fake challenge for propaganda purposes would say something like, "Do you think we should lie and be dishonest to our best friends and leave them to die at the hands of our enemies?" That is basically what Cheney asked. The answer, of course, is a simple no.

And now, a real challenge to Cheney:

"How can we win the war on Terror in under 5 years?"
"Are you willing to announce a plan to turn things around in Iraq before the next election cycle?"
"Of all your children and grand-children who are of age, how many are in the armed forces and in what capacity? And do you think all war-supporters should enlist?"

And, finally, a fake Cheney challenge, just like his:

How many more soldier's lives do you believe we are justified in sacrificing in search of non-existent military threats and in pursuit of terrorists in Iraq, a country devoid of terrorists until we invaded? And, how many more lives of our Iraqi allies, civilian and military, are disposable as we continue to look for threats that do not exist?

Dick's parental figure: My God! The neighbor's house is on fire. DICK! What did you do?

Dick: What? Who cares? That's irrelevant. The question now is should I leave the house?

Dick's parental figure: You should put out the fire you started first, Dick!

63. What a snarling, grizzled-up old war profiteer, criminal, deceiver
Why doesn't he just go to the Bohemian Grove and do some secret Satanist Owl Cult worshiping, sacrifice some virgins, and screw some little boys, and stay off our backs. Google Bohemian Grove if you don't know what I mean.

68. Our "word" is worth NOTHING.
Maybe even less. bu$hler gave our "word" that we would "smoke bin Laden out of his cave" and "bring him to Justice."

WORTHLESS. Just like bu$h and the Toadies he serves.

"Allies" obtained at gunpoint are worse than enemies.

Fuck Chee-Knee before he fucks You.

76. It is not breaking OUR WORD, you
sorry excuse for a vice president. It is preventing the unnessary deaths of more of our men and women. Hell, you been told countless times to tell the damn newly formed government of Iraq that unless time tables were met, the U. S. is gone....But nooooooooooo yo ass has got to call all of us that disagrees with yo sorry ass, unpatriotic....Get the hell out of Iraq. Give them 6 months to take over and if not then we start the pull out, and leave it to those Iraqi soldiers to defend their own country...It is time we brought all our service people home and when they arrive we all need to tell them all how proud we were for the mission you undertook.... a hand shake or a hug will do.....

He also told the conference that the U-S must treat Iraq as the "central front on the war on terror."
Cheney says that is essential because terrorist leaders like Osama bin Laden consider the country to be just that.

If you hadn't gone and invaded Iraq, it wouldn't have been a "central front on the war on terror" IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU SCHMUCK!

81. Want an answer, Dick?
Here it is. You gave YOUR word. This country was strongly opposed to war unless WMD were found. None were. You invaded anyway. NOT OUR BAGGAGE to keep YOUR word when you can't even keep yours to us.

As others have already said, Iraq is indeed the central front on the war on terror. It became that AFTER you jackasses invaded.

Lastly, I'd just like to say...from the bottom of my heart...STFU and sit TF down, old man.

85. It is not Our word Dick
It is the word of the illegal regime who has taken control of this country. Not the word of Americans or America. The world will forgive us after we round you all up, and execute you for treason and crimes against humanity. Live on world TV.:patriot:

86. Terrorists DID NOT consider the country to be a central front for terror..
..until we INVADED THERE. Before that it was

NOT

a terrorist hotbed - but it is now!

Furthermore, we have pissy few Iraqi allies. They want us OUT of their country. We've done nothing but destroy it, make it a terrorist hotbed, and plunged it into civil war.

87. Well Deadeye Dick can just go fuck himself.
The burden of proof is on him. He needs to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the reasons for continuing the war and what his definition of success is and his plan for achieving it.

I can't believe we still have a war on fear....BUT BE AFRAID OF THE TERRORISTS BOO!!! Katrina and Dubai ports have proven how much they care about homeland security.
