Bush phones into anti-abortion march; hails "noble cause"

MANHATTAN, Kan. President Bush is cheering anti-abortion marchers in Washington, telling them they're pursuing a "noble cause."

Once again this year, the president phoned in his remarks to the annual "March for Life", which commemorates the anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe versus Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Bush says the marchers are devoted what he calls a "culture of life." He says the anti-abortion cause appeals to the American conscience -- and is rooted in American principles. And he says that cause will prevail.

At the same time, Bush urged marchers to seek common ground "where possible" with Americans who support abortion rights. And he didn't mention the contentious role abortion's playing in the debate over his nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

4. Does Bush tell his mom/wife/daughters that they're NOT devoted to culture
of life?

Let's have that debate George. Let's talk about how YOU PERSONALLY handle the pro-life debate in YOUR family. Maybe you can help others with your openness to share how YOUR family debates abortion.

It must be interesting to be married to a man who wants the "states" to police your body.

Why do you liberals always insist on making things into a personal attack?

On edit: I forgot to accusse you of engaging in the politics of personal destruction, I have always wanted to blame somebody with that! Take that!

12. My body, my business
These bastards are bullies, and want to force their views on everyone.

There is nothing "conservative" or "Republican" about using the gov't to dictate the personal decisions of individuals.

25. I agree. Something about this creeps me out. He can make this
call, but couldn't bring himself to call any other people truly in need during any of a number of hurricanes in this country, not to mention the miners, nor any other true disaster. Naw, he just does house calls (or phone calls) for Schiavo and pro-lifers.

17. Y'Know, maybe if everyone participating in this march...
used the time & money needed to get it off the ground in caring for orphans, and if everyone who joined the anti-abortion crusade were to adopt several orphans, then maybe (just maybe, mind you) I could believe that they truly believe in their hearts that abortion is wrong and that women oughht to have the child and put it up for adoption.

I have noticed that none of them do this... I wonder why?

19. Not surprising -- he phones in everything else, too.
BTW, is there anything stopping the Republicans from trying to ban abortion via a constitutional amendment like they tried with gay marriage? Or are they trying to do it through the courts so that they can keep their own hands clean?

27. Bush will bury many more people in his second term
And he says that cause will prevail? -- and he told seniors he's come with a heck of a drug prescription plan that is similar to the no child left behind program. 3 more years of this, it's hard to do carefree spending with an uncertain government!

28. 'culture of life'
yet one more meaningless piece of rhetoric. to pander to such views while at the same time stammering over a question about a 'GAY MOVIE' is just disgusting, especially when he refuses to attend ncaap conventions, refuses to declare a gay pride day, yet still publically claiming to be 'inclusive'.
