Police say Ferner, brother sprayed anti-war graffiti

...Mike Ferner, 54...painted the slogans - "Troops Out Now" on the Central Avenue and U.S. 24 overpasses and "Bye Bush! Hi Robb!" on the Dussel Drive/Salisbury Road overpass - while his brother, John Ferner, 46, of Columbus, drove the truck, the Ohio Highway Patrol said...

Mike Ferner has been an active critic of U.S. military action in Iraq and, in 2003, took part in a "peace tour" of that Mideast country. He has several previous convictions for civil disobedience related to war protests or other causes he has taken on...

During the Vietnam War, Mr. Ferner served in the Navy from 1969 until 1973, when he was honorably discharged as a conscientious objector. He was elected to City Council in 1989 as an Independent. In 1993, he dueled Carty Finkbeiner to become Toledo's first strong mayor after voters replaced the city-manager form of government, and lost by 702 votes out of more than 92,000 cast...

"After his past arrests, he has not taken pleas. He has always had his day in court to explain what he is doing," she said. "The real crime is going to war on a lie, violating international treaties, and spying on the American public."

1. Well, I don't agree with his message or methodology 100%, but...

...if my fellow servicemen and servicewomen are dying to protect freedoms and rights such as this, the I fully support taking advantage of it, whatever the message.

10. What I agree with him on are the following...
We should not be spying on Americans- period. NO exceptions.
Yes, we did go to war on a lie (or at best frighteningly bad judgment), and those who propagated that lie should be brought to justice in a swift and severe fashion.

I do not agree that we should leave Iraq now. It would be disastrous. We need to stay and try and fix what we've broken, but under different leadership because obviously the blind who are leading the naked here have a plan that just isn't working.

9. I wish that were the case
Unfortunately I believe that the men and women fighting in Iraq are not dying to protect freedoms and rights. I believe they are used as pawns by this administration.

2. I know it's easy to find out, but why do they print his address?
Wonder what kind of sentence he is going to get? The cost of repainting that bridge doesn't even compare to the live lost and money spent on this insane war.

3. Paper flyers and 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive is the way to go...
Here is my IRAQ WAR: WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR flyer for download

http://bushcheated04.com/war.pdf

If you don't want to glue it since it is technically illegal you can just place it. Under windshild wipers, tucked in a book at the library, or pinned to a bulletin board.

Here is the IMPEACH BUSH flyer

6. I stick them in the display window of free newpaper boxes that are empty
Which they usually are at the end of the week. Freeway bloggiong is great but it's not an editorial and you don't really have a chance to convince anyone on the merits of what you are asserting.

7. Be careful
I posted a thread here last week - my friend has a Kerry sticker on her car and someone GLUED a flyer to her windshield telling her the election was over and it is time to take her bumper sticker off. She agreed to press charges - it's vandalism since they GLUED it on.

12. I realize it is vandalism, I only glue in areas where there is a lready a
lot of graffiti and posted bills. Which is pretty much synomymous with high crime areas where police have other priorities, though I definitely look both ways before spraying and keep my spray can in a shoulder bag. I do pick high traffic viewing areas, like near bus stops. Only an asshole would glue somthing to someone's car. Figures it would be a freeptard.

11. He should just testify that his actions weren't illegal, and cite Bush as
his precedent. It is now acceptable to flagrantly break any law and simply state that you didn't do anything illegal, and anyone who disagrees is a traitor. If Bush can do it, why can't the rest of us?

16. Why aren't there more recommendations of this thread? We need...
...more courageous politicians like this, who are willing to put their bodies on the line for peace and justice! No more comfortable politicians! No more politicians who aren't before a court of law, or in jail, protesting Bush Cartel crimes! It's time for the true patriots among the Democratic AND Republican Party leaderships, and among all public officials, to stand up against this junta in the most dramatic and eloquent ways possible! They are violating their oaths of office by their silence and inaction!

Power to Mike Ferner, and all like him!

The argument that, now that we are in Iraq, we must stay there, is specious--and serves the interests of the war profiteers and the PNAC imperialists. WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE THERE. None. Zip. We have committed heinous war crimes there. We have no authority--NONE--to kill, jail or torture Iraqis, to dictate laws and election rules, to sign contracts, to bring more Americans or others into the country, or to do anything whatever in Iraq. The UN and the border countries should be immediately convened to immediately remove the US from power in Iraq and withdraw all of its troops (NOT to Kuwait, NOT to Qatar--where we can pounce on some other hapless country at a moment's whim--but home, where they belong, for DEMOBILIZATION), and immediately hold UN-SPONSORED elections, with UN election monitors, and a UN peacekeeping force, heavy on REGIONAL troops, to determine the government of Iraq.

By saying that the US must maintain order in Iraq--now that we are there--you are saying, 1) that there is no other entity in the world capable of maintaining order, which is not true; and 2) that the Iraqis cannot maintain order themselves, which is probably not true (and the Bush Cartel motive is maintaining that they are not "ready" is probably to continue infiltrating Iraqi police ranks with paid spies, and elements trained in torture and assassination techniques).

Further, the Bush junta is NOW running this disaster, for its own private ends. It is intolerable that they be permitted to continue doing so. There is no other regime in the White House, at the moment.. They have THREE MORE YEARS to continue this crime, and to BENEFIT from it--with no change of regime by impeachment or other prosecution on the horizon. It could happen. It ISN'T happening yet. We cannot wait, and Iraq cannot wait, for a change of administrations. This is a criminal enterprise. It should be stopped immediately.

Iraq is showing every sign of becoming another Vietnam--and with three more years of this criminal regime, every effort will be made to turn it into one, so that we can never get out. The Bushites are itching to expand the war into Iran and Syria. We've already slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent people, and tortured many more. What they have already done is unconcionable. To give them leeway to do more is insane.

Get the US out Iraq and out of the Middle East now! No if's, and's or but's.
