BAGHDAD (AFP) - Five people have been killed in a bomb attack on the local headquarters of the Sunni-based Iraqi Islamic Party in Khalis, north of Baghdad.
Two men guarding the building were among those killed in the attack, according to Mohammed Ahmed, an Islamic Party official in the town 70 kilometres (45 miles) north of the capital.
Earlier in the day, two policemen were killed and six wounded in two attacks in Baghdad, an interior ministry official said.
Two policemen died and two were wounded by a bomb blast in the north of the capital Saturday. The blast also injured two civilians.
Four police commandos were wounded by a second explosion in the south of the capital.
Another three people, including a policeman, were kidnapped some 35 kilometres (20 miles) east of ousted dictator Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit in northern Iraq, police said.
