Lebanese bank probe judge wounded in attack (mafia link to Hariri bomb?)
BEIRUT (AFP) - A Lebanese magistrate probing the collapse of the Al-Madina bank which has been linked to the killing of former premier Rafiq Hariri was attacked and hospitalized, police said. (...)

Khoury, who is leading an enquiry into the fraudulent collapse of the Al-Madina bank two years ago amid allegations of money laundering, managed to call his family who took him to hospital where he was in a stable condition.

The UN enquiry into Hariri's killing in a February bomb blast has said that fraud, corruption and money laundering may have been connected to the assassination. (...)

The bank is also facing a money-laundering probe. Unconfirmed press reports said the bank was used for the money-laundering of several trillion dollars by the Russian mafia, Iraqi state funds and Saudi Islamic associations.
