US wants Egypt politician freed

The US has demanded the release of Egyptian opposition leader Ayman Nour, hours after he was given
a five-year jail term for forgery.

The White House said it was "deeply troubled" by the conviction of Nour, who is on hunger strike.

Nour, who came second in a presidential poll in September, was accused of falsifying signatures
to register his party, Ghad.

"The conviction of Mr Nour, the runner-up in Egypt's 2005 presidential elections, calls into question
Egypt's commitment to democracy, freedom, and the rule of law," White House spokesman
Scott McClellan said in a statement.

2. I am "deeply troubled" as well.
Demanded? Egypt should tell the wh assholes to F-themselves.

No matter what any case is about, no matter what goes on in other countries, these assholes always find a way to insert this crap into their stupid statements:

- demockracy
- freedumb

3. So the Bushites want to destabilize Egypt now?
This is either empty political posturing (best case) or else they are trying to help destabilize Egypt (worst case, Neocon standard MO). It's hard for me to think Hosni agreed to let them bash him like this, so I favor the latter, with a possibility of embarassing stupidity or failure to register Egyptian political stability as a serious concern, as possible alternatives. Or maybe they want to piss Egypt off? After all, you can't have too many enemies.
