Japanese foreign minister calls China's military a threat

China's expanding military budget represents a danger and is fueling suspicion among other nations, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso said Thursday.

"It's a neighboring country with nuclear bombs, and its military expenditure has been on the rise for 12 years. It's beginning to pose a considerable threat," Aso said at a press conference.

The ministry later said that China's military expenditure has increased for 17 successive years.
