(Limbaugh) Prosecutor tapped to be judge (by Gov Jeb Bush)
Prosecutor tapped to be judge

Staff report
Posted December 20 2005

The state prosecutor who is leading the investigation into Rush Limbaugh's drug use has been appointed a Palm Beach County judge, Gov. Jeb Bush announced Monday.

James Martz, 48, of Parkland, head of the Community Based Anti-Crime Task Force of the State Attorney's Office, will fill the county court vacancy that was created during the 2005 legislative session.

Martz will likely assume his office sometime in January, said Michael Edmondson, a spokesman for Palm Beach County State Attorney Barry Krischer.

Until he assumes the bench, Martz remains an active prosecutor. His caseload, including the high-profile investigation into Limbaugh's prescription drug use, will be transferred to other attorneys, Edmondson said.

A decision on who would take over the Limbaugh investigation has not been made, Edmondson said. Limbaugh has not been charged with a crime.

5. Another snip
Martz was "quite cool, quite calm and quite elated" when he was told of the appointment, Edmondson said.

Martz will oversee traffic, small claims and misdemeanor criminal cases in his role as a county judge.

This resembles how * removed the prosecutor from the Jack Abramoff investigation in Guam.

No, it's not surprising at all.

6. Ah, I get it.
Jeb makes the man who's prosecuting the GOP's mouthpiece a judge.

The attorney who takes his place is someone who doesnt know enough about the case.

The judge declares a mistrial due to lack of evidence.

Limbaugh gets to keep spewing bile and garbage on the radio every day.

11. This is how they do it: promote them away from what they were working on
Voila! Diligent prosecutor no longer on dear Rush's neck. Same thing was done in the earlier days of the Abramoff scandal.

Watch as they "promote" Patrick Fitzgerald...

14. Exactly my thoughts.
In the end, the new job is higher paying or more politically powerful at a local level. What a blatant attempt at sweeping the Limbaugh problem under the rug.
