CITY WILL STOP ISSUING VOUCHERS TO EVACUEES
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3523458.html

Declaring "Houston is full," Mayor Bill White said that after today, the city will cease giving hurricane evacuees vouchers for 12 months of paid rent and utilities.

As he announced the voucher program's end, White said the Federal Emergency Management Agency needs to help other cities implement housing programs for evacuees and still commit to the initial voucher program brokered with city officials here.

The announcement comes as city officials have grown increasingly concerned about a tide of evacuees coming here from around the state and country. In three months, more than 100,000 have been housed in Houston-area apartments.

"This has occurred from early on, because there's more employment and opportunity here," White said Tuesday. "We're going to have people move here for a long time, from all over the place. But now FEMA needs to get programs in place in other cities, because Houston is getting full."

4. How about getting a program in place in New Orleans?
But now FEMA needs to get programs in place in other cities

It is, after all, these people's home. There's room for thousands of "FEMAnsion" trailers in the metro area that Brownie's successor is just sitting on. :grr:

Oh, right, we're talking about FEMA. They couldn't organize a one-car funeral. They couldn't plan their way out of a wet paper bag... :banghead:
