Jordan's King Demands Anti-Terror Push

By PAUL GARWOOD
The Associated Press
Sunday, November 13, 2005; 3:12 AM

AMMAN, Jordan -- King Abdullah II called for a global fight against terrorism Saturday as Jordan acknowledged for the first time that al-Qaida in Iraq used three foreign suicide bombers to attack Amman hotels, killing 57 others.

The devastating strike was masterminded by Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, signaling his group is able to launch terror attacks outside war-ravaged Iraq. Abdullah called al-Zarqawi a growing threat to the Middle East and put the international community on notice that it must cooperate to fight terrorists.

"Terrorism is a sick and cross-border phenomenon. Therefore, eradicating it is the whole world's responsibility," he told the state-run Petra news agency. "The body parts we saw in Amman we see everyday in brotherly Iraq and have also seen in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and other countries around the world."

Abdullah later told CNN that four suicide bombers carried out Wednesday's attacks, suggesting one was the "spouse" of another militant. His remarks seemed to confirm al-Qaida in Iraq's claim that a husband and wife were among the bombers.

1. The biggest and most effective push would be get US military off of
Muslim lands and Israel out of occupying Palestinian territories and stopping new settlements.

2. I hope the king is serious about this
because I think he will be in for a surprise when they realize that most of these attacks can be traced back to support and funding from sources within the US & Israeli governments.

3. remember king hussein was a cia asset
king hussein was getting a $1200 month stipend from the cia; this came out during the 70's era Church committee hearings (and was promptly ignored by the pigmedia. though 1200/month isn't really money, the fact that hussein was secretly getting it says 'they' had him under control- it's almost certain yasir arafat was also under control of someone not sympathetic to palestinian nationalism)
during 'gulf war' one, the 'allies had trouble bombing large parts of iraq because, according to bbc, the brits and american agents were so thick on the ground; they literally fukked up the planned destruction of iraq- saddam would have known this, and he still playacted the tyrant for western media consumption)

5. i forgot, more then you'll ever know, i'm sure
but not the old player's death a few years ago...he was a jet pilot, as was the son of indira gandhi and bozo the bush himself...though bozo only ran around during vietnam war era, with his arms outstretched making vroomvroom noises (which the freepers and mediawhores marvel at, though it just doesn't seem very marvellous(?))

6. King Abdullah didn't make any sense when on CNNI--he's a Bush clone
He said that those that had blown themselves up, especially a husband and wife, during a wedding, were "insane people." What does he call Bush, who has dropped tens of thousands of bombs on the most populated city in Iraq? I find it amazing that, as a Muslim, he hasn't figured out that the bombings in Jordan are "payback" for Jordan's luke-warm opposition to the initial invasion, as well as Jordan's continued support of the US. His wife has been seen schmoozing on Larry King frequently since the invasion.

7. Abdullah's got something to back up what he says.
His Defense Force has effective special operations and intelligence wings. Story goes that the U.S. has been highly reliant upon JDF to secure their small section of the border while also keeping a close eye on the Syrians.

They're in an excellent position to make particular demands upon the United States regarding jurisdiction, sharing of intelligence, and methods. Should their demands not be met, they could prove to be highly uncooperative.

It will be interesting to see what the King wishes be done.

8. Sounds exactly like us after 9/11, when our king demanded
wholesale changing of our laws, and a state of "war", and all sorts of other things to make an "anti-terror push".

I share the sadness and horror over what happened to the 9/11 victims. I just don't share the sheeplike belief (found in wingnut circles) in what the Bush/Cheney government tells us was the alleged cause of the tragedy. Nor do I share the belief that the answer to the tragedy was endless war.
