Bush administration defends treatment of detainees

WASHINGTON The Bush administration is defending how the U-S questions and treats terror suspects.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan says President Bush has made it very clear that "we do not torture."

During a sometimes-heated exchange with reporters today, McClellan said the White House has fully spelled out its views on the issue.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the U-S and its allies that have experienced attacks "have to find a way to protect" citizens. However, she says President Bush had made it clear that he won't tolerate the torture of detainees.

4. Waaa. Canofun never opens for me!
Waaa, I've missed out on alot of good stuff. grr. grumble. x(

well, anyway, I heard turdweasel on the radio saying that the US doesn't torture. Liar. And why was he so dead set against signing in a military bill with a clause prohibiting torture?? He'd forfeit $80 bill if he couldn't have permission to stick electrodes on people's genitals?

Uh huh.

5. GOP babbles more nonsense...
"We don't torture, but we'll veto a bill that prohibits us from doing what we say we don't, and won't do." Sheesh, do they have ANY idea how stupid announcements like this sound? They have become so accustomed to being able to get away with anything, that being challenged is throwing them into absolute insanity.

Spinning is getting much more difficult, unless the audiences are Limbaugh or Hannity fans. Ordinary Americans are balking at the government engaging in conduct which we have been raised to believe is immoral and evil. Choke on it, neocons.
