Arraignment This Week For Libby

(CBS/AP) I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who resigned as Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff last week after being indicted in the CIA leak investigation, will be arraigned this Thursday, CBS News has learned.

Libby resigned Friday after he was indicted on five counts of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements relating to his testimony to the FBI and a grand jury investigating the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.

If convicted on all five counts, he could face as much as 30 years in prison and $1.25 million in fines.

6. Scooter may well start to think about this.
Recall on Friday, there were reports of "White House distances itself from Libby", and "conservatives turn on Libby".

I think if he hasn't already realized it, Libby has been cut loose. The Bush thugs are hoping he will be the sacrificial goat, and the rest of them can continue without missing a beat.

Meanwhile, Libby faces prison time. If this trial drags on, he will see what they really think of him: nothing. I hope he sees that.

8. "Scooter" is a nice name for a "prison b!tch"
I want to see him locked up for 30 years. He'll look sexy in one of those bright orange jumpsuits.

9. Talk about the Prisoner's Dilemma
If he clams up, the neo-cons might:
- pardon him on Bush's way out the door, and give him a nice sinecure
or
- let him rot in prison.

If he sings, the neo-cons might:
- come tumbling down, and he walks for cooperating
or
- survive the experience, and cause him to have an accident (interesting that he is in a cast right now).

10. I'm surprised Bush didn't save the SC announcement for Thursday.
Maybe they have something else planned.

First, Delay, now Libby. Any more? They could make this into a weekly or nightly show. What's Robin Leach doing these days?
